I just received a call from AJMBlazer mid swap...

His main question was about the CDR hose size being smaller on the HMMV intake compared to the C code and how to deal with it. I would guess you could drill out the holes and install the larger fittings off of the C code intake. Anyone dealt with this before know if there is enough material to drill it out?

Another thing I found in a quick search was people saying the stock air cleaner now sits lower and hits the IP. So for future reference, expect to make some kind of spacer to run this intake with a stock air cleaner.

Thanks man. Yep, I'm in the process of heading back out to the garage to "undo" what I've done so far. Glad I didn't crack the bolts yet.

Strange part is I've found about a dozen references to this swap on TheDieselPage.com but not a single one of them mentions the CDR hose/fitting or the stock air cleaner being an issue.

Why is it that everything I touch lately goes to ****?:doah::mad::(

I am not sure about either problems. I just know the feeling of when projects take on a whole new meaning of difficult. I feel your pain.

Got it back together.

Good news is the thermostat housing doesn't seem to be leaking so my earlier work today wasn't a waste.

Wow...no thoughts on this from the diesel guru's?

Think I'm going to try and make the HMMWV intake work. Someone suggested pressing out the stock bung on it, drilling it out, and then tapping it and screwing in a correct size piece of pipe or something to use in place of it. Have to talk with my "Mr Fab-a-lot" buddy this weekend.
However the hose adapter idea seems easier...for now.

Anybody know how much shorter the HMMWV intake is compared to the regular truck intakes? Kinda hard to measure when one's on the truck. Someone suggested I order a filter housing riser spacer from Summit racing as apparently it's a common size. Trying to figure out which height so I can order it. 2" 3" ?

I didn't take this pics, but found them on the internet in the past while researching this.

Hummer on the left, truck on the right. Notice how the air cleaner studs are 90 degrees off.

Front view for height. No measurements but should give you an idea.

I think I'm going to scrap this idea. After I figure out a spacer, get longer studs, press, ream out, and thread the CDR outlet, buy a fitting, and do all the work it's cheaper, faster, and easier to just buy a single plane truck manifold and hook my stuff directly up to it.

Anybody want a HMMWV intake cheap? Aluminum isn't worth much anymore unfortunately.
