ca trails (near san joaquin coutny)

i dont mind driving since that pretty much all one can do from here (san joaquin county) im lookin for some suggestions though. and good spots close to water near pipi valley besides pipi? i know there has to a ton but im not familiar with them and does anybody know the status of "greenhorn" in nevada city? havent been there in about 3 years but heard it was shut down? i'd hate to drive 2 hours from here just to find out an area is closed was planning to head out this weekend and do some wheelin/camping but would like to either hit up greenhorn or maybe a new spot in the el dorado n.f. close to water if possible. any info would be great thanks!
