Next up on the list is new motor mounts for the rig. I'm curious how you guys running the big Caddy motors did you're motor mounts. I have an idea of how I want to do them but I'm curious what others have come up with.

Years ago when I had a 500 caddy engine and was thinking of using it in my pickup,I googled several websites looking for photos of how others made the engine mounts,etc---found one that showed a engine using nothing more than a hunk of 1/2" thick steel bolted to the trucks original frame engine mount location and they used stock Eldorodo engine mounts bolted to the steel plate--basically the caddy's engine block has 2 holes casted right thru the block further forward than a chevy engine,so all you need is the steel to bridge the gap between the two........................................................................................................................I think the site I saw was "Chevrollac" or something similar,a guy was installing a 500 into a 2wd pickup truck...looked almost too easy!..the other sites like 500 cid.com have ready made mounts too I saw...I didn't have much luck finding a rear sump eldorado oil pan,so I ended up selling the engine I had back to the guy I got it from, after letting it sit in my shed 10 years....

I built full crossmembers for mine.

One was built before diy4x existed and I don't have anything on file for that piece. Blazer build thread shows it hanging on the new motor before install.

The other was mostly tubing and went in to a 2wd frame. Used a mid sump pan on this one and modified the pan quite a bit. Might be pics in the crew cab build thread.
