Calling all Texas Folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update- Post up so we can reserve spots.

Anyone have a carb that will work on a stock '87 350 motor? I just swapped in this motor a few weeks ago and here lately it hasnt been running right so I picked up a kit for it and a friend of mine rebuilt it tonight. Well it still wont run right. He is gonna come back over tommorow and just adjusting on it some more. It is not wanting to idle right. We set it to idle at about 900-1000 but you put it in the gear and it drops down to like 500. THen after a few minutes with it in gear it wont idle at all. I am wondering if someone that is coming to shiloh has one that is already tuned will bring with them and let me use.

I will ask a buddy of mine if he has one setting around, i think he has a quadrajunk carb just setting there, so i will ask him.

I worked on the carb some more tonight. I put a new filter inside the carb and a in line filter before the carb and it seems to be doing a lot better. I am thinking that maybe the filter inside the carb was to dirty or something because it was pretty bad. So far the truck is running really good. I left it just idling for about 10 minutes and it was fine the whole time. If someone that is coming has a carb they wouldnt mind me using though please bring it just incase I need one. Thanks.

so how many people are going? i so wish i could make it but i just got my rig up and good to go yesterday and that set me back the money i had for shiloh, also there was reservation problems but
TAKE PICS!!!
bury yallselves to the mirrors!

Hey JohnDeere,

Just an FYI...cell phone coverage at Shiloh Ridge is poor at best, non existant most places.

Hey Y'all,

Just an idea. If y'all have CB's, you should all come to an agreement on a channel, so y'all can communicate with one another. Range should be about 5-10 miles. Will that help John Deere? Hope y'all got a radio.

Hey, btw, the MUD at Shiloh is deep, gooey and nasty. Don't have those mall sneakers on when you go, at least not alone, or you'll be stuck for the count.

yeah I heard someone got their face ripped off out there when he out of the back of a pick up or something:doah: As far as I know it sounds like there are going to be quite a few people out there. there are no longer any rv or trailer sites left only premitive camping. If you decide to leave on saturday, you can head out with us. meet us at the whataburger on south broadway or something.

I am still trying to decide if i want to go or not, but if i do go i will meet up with yall at whataburger. It seems like hardly any body is going any more. What time are yall going down to whataburger on broadway?

After a long ass week of wrenching on the rig I think that it is finally ready. I have everything loaded up and ready to go. I will be getting out there in the morning still. My number is 936-635-4994. GIve me a shout when you get there and I will let you know where I am camping. Johndeere give me a call when you get down there. I should have a pretty good size group camping with me from pavementsucks.com and you can join in. Also I have been down there lots of times know pretty much where you can and cant go.

Well boys I wont be able to make it. Some crazy things have come up that have kept me out of the mix. Yall have fun and take lots of pics. Hopefully I will be good to go for some type of memorial day run but IDK yet.

A few warnings about Shilo,,,,prepare for EVERYTHING you bring there to be covered in red dirt !!! and I mean everything....if it hasn't rained up there in the past few days,,it will be a dust bowl,,,the main camping area by the entrance is where the showers and toilets are...and 4 wheelers ride thru there all day and all night long kicking up clouds of red dust.

The dust is unbelievable,,,bring goggles and breathing protection if you are riding four wheelers !!!!

The high iron content of the mud, is death on electrical parts...if you get in the mud pits and stall out in deep water,it's best to shut the truck off and get pulled out. Starters, batteries, alternators do not last long after being submerged at Shilo.

I also suggest camping far away from the entrance.

Alto is a dry county so bring plenty of adult beverages. I think the nearest beer is about 22 mile away.

Other than that,,,have fun and be careful arround helicopter hill,,

Oh yeah,, lifeflight comes and goes there on a regular basis...for those of you with kids riding four wheeler this is NOT a good place to let them ride unattended,,especially at night. The last time I was there they airlifted 3 kids out after they broadsided a washout at about 40 MPH at night..

I got about 170 pics and I am working on uploading them now. I had a great time and it was great meeting ya'll there were there. I ended up hitting up a lot of rocks hills and trails this trip and stayed out of the mud. The 10 bolt in the front end actually even held up. Saturday evening I found out the carb will cut out when you get on a hill to steep. I had it happen twice so I had to take different lines. Then today(sunday) I was with some local buddies of mine and we rode trails, rocks, and hit up helicopter hill. First I tryed the line on the first right and got about half way up and the carb cut out. So I came back down and hit up the far left line and made it about 10 feet from the top and the carb started sputtering so I tryed pumping the gas some to keep it running but it was just to steep. So I stopped there and a friend pulled me the rest of the way. I will have pics up soon.

I am just copying and pasting this from another forum I am on so it may read kind of wierd on this forum but you get the idea.

I got all my pics downloaded. There are 190 of them so I am not gonna put them all on here.
Theres a set of 44s down there somewhere in that hole.

IM003936.jpg

Ridiculously tall truck with no front driveshaft and also STOCK steering. No hydro assist or anything. It took 10 people to drive this thing. 9 spotters and one idiot behind the wheel.
IM003940.jpg

54's!! There were actually 4 trucks out there on 54's. A geo tracker with a bad ass motor in it, this chevy, a old chevy dually, and a white ext cab chevy(I think was tall_boy from here). Saturday night we were down at the pits and this guy decide he wanted to do a tug or war in the pit so they other chevy dually on 54's said he would hook onto him. So they get in the pit and they start and the single cab truck dies so they dually just drug his through it. Well a guy and girl in the dually get out and start cheering to the crowd and the single cab chevy got his truck started and jerked the **** out of him. Well he was standing on the side of the truck so he couldnt pull back. So now they are on the other side of the mud hole and the guy gets back in the dually and of course he jerks back and pulls him to the other side and then the guy and girl get out again and start cheering and the sincle cab truck jerked back but this time the girl on the passenger side fell out of the truck. She hits the ground and is probably about a foot away from being ran over. The drive is getting banged around all over the place holding onto the door. Well when they get back to the other side and finally stop a huge fight of about 20 people break out over there. I figured it would go on for a while but it broke up pretty quick. The girl that fell ended up being ok they did bring a stretcher in and I guesss they took her to the hospital. It was probably about a 8 foot drop.
IM003942.jpg

These are the only two action shots I have of my rig.
And there not even that good.
IM003944.jpg

IM003943.jpg

These are some of the guys I met up with from CK5.com. This is a bad ass crew cab. Air bagged all the way around, dual trannys, and lots of goodies inside. He has 7 different levers inside this thing to control brakes, t-case, and trannys.
IM003951.jpg

IM003950.jpg

Another one from same group. 454 D60 front 14BFF rear.
IM003953.jpg

Not sure about all the spec on this one. I know it is built good. Has a $6K motor in it and like the skinny pedal on the rocks.
IM003954.jpg

This one a bad ass too. It has 6.2L diesel he added a turbo 42" IROKs. I was real impressed with this thing. I dont think the weight of the diesel hurt him at all. Also I really like the cage. Gave me some good ideas for my truck.
IM003957.jpg

IM003956.jpg

Dont know who this is but he was givin her hell on this rock hill.
IM003974.jpg

This rock hill is really bad. I had never seen a fulll size rig make it all the way up this thing. They alwys end up getting hung up on the rocks. There are 2 big ass rocks and the rockers on a full size end up getting wedged on them and then the back tires are in a bad undercut and climb over. This white crew cab almost mad it but ended up having to back out.

This jeep belongs to a buddy of mine. They just finished building it and have just done one test run a couple weeks ago and thats it. It has D60 front, 14BFF rear, hydro assist steering, coil springs front and rear, and 3 linked front and rear. Scored a 1280 on a RTI ramp.
IM004010.jpg

IM004012.jpg

IM004014.jpg

And unfortunately he got to here and broke the u-bolt on the front u-joint on the front driveshaft so they winched him up to the top and got it back together.
IM004040.jpg

IM004020.jpg

IM004021.jpg

This guy is from the same group. He also just finished his last week too and only did one test run before this weekend. He pull the diesel out of here and put a fuel injected motor, dual t-cases, 2.5 ton rocks, disk brakes all the way around, 63" springs in the rear, coil springs up front, and is supposed to be on 46's. The wheels came in last week and they were the wrong ones for his military tires. They lip on the wasnt big enough for the bead on the tires so it would of ended up popping a bead. So he just ran these skinny ass 44's.

This was after they started to winch him up through the rocks some. He ended up on top of that rock and got a little tipsy so they had to put another winch on the side to keep it from going over.
IM004043.jpg

IM004045.jpg

THis jeep was pretty good. From what some people were saying it used to belong to some big shot named Tim Taylor or something and was in some magazines and stuff.
IM004048.jpg

IM004050.jpg

IM004055.jpg

This rig was just plain nasty. 2.5 ton rocks, 4 wheel steering, and cut 44" boggers. They damn bogger would hook and bite big time!!! He actually made it all the way. This was the first full size rig I have ever seen make it all the way to the top on his own.
IM004058.jpg

It ended up wedged on top of the rocks for a while but he played with it and finally got to crawl up and over them.
IM004061.jpg

IM004067.jpg

This guy is another local guy. He bought this buggy about a year ago and it has 2.5 ton rocks, 4wheel steering, and 47" LTBs. This was the first time I had really seen it in action.

This hill is called washout hill. There used to be really bad under cut at the top but the rock ledge broke off but it is still a good climb out of it.

yeah, all in all, it was a great weekend, the only thing i hated was those stupid quad guys racing up and down the camp site covering everything with dust. I did not break anything all weekend long and on my way home the water pump went out:doah: I'll get my pics up soon too.
