Well Im a cheapskate and was looking for a free membership so i hit up the webmaster about free memberships for certified technicians, with no response. Sure it may be unfair to the rest ,sorry life is unfair too, but it just may add to the forums

So lets see those certifications
I currently have
C1service consultant
A2 Automatic Transmissions
A8 Engine Performance

Im working on A6 Electrical Systems, and A5 Brakes

I think he probably thinks highly of his knowledge of cars and trucks and thinks he can provide a lot of useful info to all of us, therefor he should get in free. I say you have to pay to play! It's well worth in my opinion! Where else can you get answers on assembling your dana 60 in 4 minutes at 11:30pm on a wednesday night?

And btw: I'm not trying to knock the OP, just giving my .02!

I suppose the intention is yea, free **** sure, but to have a gauge of the number of members certified techs would be interesting vs John doe who works at McDolnalds(no offense Ronald). Additionally other members viewing have a reference to who is a good guy to talk to about a perticular situation they are having. Not that experience based info is'nt valid.
Get my drift

He is trying to receive free membership in exchange for his expertise as a said technician with the following certs:
C1service consultant
A2 Automatic Transmissions
A8 Engine Performance

I'm pretty sure this is going to turn into an interesting thread!

To be honest guy I think you are gonna have to contribute a lot of info first and have people to back your statements about said credentials before you go asking about free member status. This is a tight knit community, I have been a member since early 2005 and don't even have that many posts nor really even know that many other members here. What I do know is people (guys that have been around form the beginning) get pretty particular about rookies, noobs, and otherwise very new members coming in and calling shots. I don't contribute much but I still have paid my dues for this great website.

Good Luck:D:D:D

I wanna hear what SweetK30 or Greg say on this one.

It would be a cool thing to put in your sig. But from my experiance, every guy that I have ever hired that was certified was an idiot (Totaly differant trade so don't get offended.) I know who I will listen to and who I won't on here because I have read thousands of posts and I know who's info I trust. For example, one perticular memeber on here has more experience and know-how than most everybody on here but I trust info I get from a guy that is younger than I am because I have read his posts in several other threads and I don't even know what he does for a living. The guy that knows everything thinks just that, he knows everything. I have seen him wrong a couple of times and he just disappears off the thread (plus I think he is rude). Soap box done. I say join up! If you have good chit to share we want to hear it!

having a certification doesn't necessarily make you "valuable".... :surepal:

i think theres alot of john does on here that know way more than most technicians out there...just my .02 though

I made a small adjustment :D

I have 13 ASE Certs, and have no problem paying for my membership...use your skills to find some sidework, then use the money to pay for a membership.

nice.... :D hey, a Joysey boy! :wink1:

I have no certs, guess I'm not much help around here.... :haha:

Wait a minute.... I have a degree in computer science, should I be calling Dell for a free computer?

Shoot, even better... since I have an Alabama driver's license I need to call the DMV for my free car!

Who else is certified for entitlement?

Wow that went sideways. Never did I say that uncertified techs. Or the general population in general is useless, in fact i know alot of technicians that have far more knowledge than the latter. But there are alot of numbnuts' out there. Example i was in the process of buying a 1 ton truck. the Add read ; 1 ton, 14bolt dana 60, 454 . . . . after talking to said dumbass, and asking a few questions he said this and i quote"it has a 14 bolt dana 60".it was a F'n 2wd, total waste of my time thinking the average joe knew what he was talking about in that situation. I dont care who isnt a technician and i dont put myself on a pedistal . Generally speaking i find the builds by average guys more impressive, being that all their knowledge had to be aquired on the fly and sometimes with little or no past experience. This was intended as a dialog for people who have taken further steps to gain knowledge. It does add validity .Its not that i wont listen to those who havent gained certs, and its not that i dont have a meager 25 bucks to throw at the site

Should have been a Poll as to who was a technician, there are member groups for all sorts of stuff but not this.
