cam going out?

how would i know if the lobes on my cam are going out, with out pulling it all apart?

You could pull the valve covers and rotate the engine while looking at each valve to see how far it is opening. Every valve should open about the same amount, it will be obvious if there is one or more that aren't opening nearly as far.

well there is two rockers on one side that keep getting loose, and it backfires out the exhaust on that side as well but not all the time. rockers keep getting loose and making noise but the permalocs are still tight. thats why im going down this road... they all move decent with the engine running, i cant really tell by eye but ya this blows.

Now you need to inspect that the tops of ALL the rocker studs are even, if those 2 are standing taller than the rest you have rocker studs pulling out of the head. This will require you to drill and tap the holes and use a screw in rocker stud. This can be done on the vehicle (assuming you have room to work in the affected area). There is a Dorman stud that will work without having to machine the rocker pedestal down it is a 693-006

Well if you already have screw in studs and your adjusting nuts aren't loose it's obviously a cam going flat.
