So i am continuing my journey trying to figure out what i have and how to get some more "go" out of it.

Its a 1991 burb with a TBI 350 and 700R4 with 3/4 ton axles 4:10 gears. anyway it has some mods....Thorley headers that merge to a single 3" exhaust, with no Cat, and a stock-ish muffler. Also there was a Crane camshaft installed by PO, and im wondering if its a good cam for towing...my main purpose for the burb. I have a spec sheet which shows:
intake @ cam 282 @valve 423
exhaust @ cam 297 @valve 446 rocker arm ratiio 1.5

part number 114122 grind num powermax 2030 formerly compucam 2030

then there's cam timing adv duration intake 264 exhaust 274

hopefully these numbers make sense and can give someone an idea what i have.

I think my intake manifold is stock....

any way....is this a good cam (if its in good shape i suppose) for towing?

Thats a great cam for a TBI motor , or a feedback Quadrajet motor . Its about right for where towing is , the midrange . Not made for off idle grunt , or top end power .

The factory got it all right towards the end of the old style smallblock , and made 250 horses stock by 99 , with lots of torque . So a multiport conversion kit could help tremendously , and some new heads which flow a little better .

The 2030 should be a good cam for towing. It is a mild midrange TBI computer frendly cam. Builds power from 1500- 4800. Which is a good towing rpm range. It should run ok on the stock chip. But you should run more fuel pressure.
With the headers and cam you would really get some benifit from a bigger bored 580-600 cfm TB and Adjustable fuel pressure regulator to increase fuel pressure.
The again you could always supercharge it.:D

thanks for the responses....glad to know i dont have some race car cam in there.

im going to look into some of the "tbi upgrades", but i wanted to know if i had some good stuff to start with.
