Camaro my Brother gave me

I've always liked MSD, they are now owned by Holley and they both have good customer service.
 
Car runs again. That's a good feeling.

Painted parts are coming back from the body shop. Tuesday the car goes to the body shop.

This is the home stretch.

Hope 100% finished by new years day.
 
I had to ask about the IHRA because I was curious what class you were going to run.

When I bought my first racecar, it came out of Ohio as a C modified car
 
Car is pretty much done. Drive shaft will be here shortly. Bleeding brakes today. Probably scale it even though no driveshaft. Running fantastic again.

Final reveal this sunday night. It's not black anymore.

And I’m guessing it’s not going to be a single color if it’s getting wrapped, but will be fun to see.
 
Please discuss in great detail including detailed pictures (i can make it worth your while):

1) You mentioned that mild steel would be assembled faster than chrome moly. Is this because it's just faster to mig weld than tig, or because mild steel is easier to bend/form than moly?
(Note to everyone else reading this: NHRA requires chrome moly tubing to be tig welded rather than mig welded to be legal)

2) How, exactly, is the floor attached to the frame? Actually, let's discuss the floor first----materials, thickness etc.

3) i ASSume that there are commercially available lexan windows and windshields available for the 82-92 camaro/firebird? If you have an application where there are no aftermarket support, then what?
a) please describe how the lexan is secured to the body.

4) Possibly the most important question----Do you do this for a living?

yes, mig weld is faster and while fit up is critical, mild steel tubing is more forgiving of a heat build up than chromo.

floor is aluminum, except directly under the driver which is steel. Steel floor section is welded in while aluminum is riveted. All in accordance with current NHRA specifications.

as far as preformed lexan goes, or the lack there of, it would depend on the complexity of the shape before I could decide what to do about it. Straighter, flatter, simple, I’d bend it myself. With much curve I’d find somebody to custom make me one or investigate ways to form it myself. It can be done.

front is riveted, Flush to the body.

sides are bolted with 6-32’s with vertical supports to hold shape.

rear is dzus fastened to facilitate easy removal. Also flush mounted.

I fabricate for a living. Yes. Currently setting up to build another car for my brother.

I have a firebird and a corvette waiting to be built. Those cars do not have owners at this time. They will be built to a roller level then sold unless someone wants me to finish one out turn key.
