can a 15.50tire go on a 8in wide wheel

so you guys think a 38.5X15R16 bogger will fit fine on a 16X7 wheel with weld-on beadlock(thus making it ~8"wide) ?

you can physically mount that tire and rim combination together but it will look and perform like crap. just bolting the beadlock down will be a huge headache. you are pinching the tire 6-7 inches, thats a little overkill, especially on a beadlock wheel.

Interco recommends a 10-12" rim for that tire. I would buy some cheap 10" wheels and weld beadlocks on them.

I am running 38.5x14.50 sx's on a 15x8 with a weld on beadlock. Now somewhere around 9-9.50" wide wheel with the beadlocks. I have no problems.

Look and perform like crap??? I have to disagree with you on that based on real world experience. For looks, I guess that it just everybody's personal preference but I don't think I would say the tires on any of the rigs below "look like crap" just because they are on narrower rims.

A 12" wide rim for a 15.5" tire is way too wide, IMHO, for off-road use especially if you don't have beadlocks. I popped both front and rear beads on my 13" wide TSL's on 10" wide rims (no, they weren't 16.5s either) at 15 psi all the time, not to mention always having to clean out dirt and other crap from the bead to keep it from leaking. The guys below all run single digit air pressures and rarely, if ever, pop beads (Ford truck has never popped a bead and is 7,000 lbs., seen the Sami pop two beads but at about 3 psi and it has a V-8 so he was gettin' it, never seen the TJ pop a bead) and only have to clean out the beads 1/4 as much as I did.

EDIT - Sorry, don't know why the actual pictures are not showing up instead of just links...in the preview the actual picture is there.

Yes. I know a guy running that size tire on a 16x8 (Heep w/ D60's and coilovers front and rear). He's been flogging it for probably a couple years now on the trail and also drives it on the road some just for fun...no problems.
Thanks, I would really like to use these 16X7s I have. Got two of them for free and bought the other two at a junkyard for $15, combined with the weld-on beadlocks I already have, I will have $105 into all 4 of my beadlock wheels :D
