Title says it all........After I removed the axles and hubs of my 14 bolt I was cleaning the axle tubes with a rag and I pulled this little bad boy out. Besides the obvious being that it's a washer, can anyone tell me where it came from? BTW I didn't remove the ring gear or anything

That is what the factory usually use the hold a slide off style brake drum onto the studs. There would be only one of those pushed over a stud after the brake drum was installed.

Why the hell did I find that in the axle tube??:confused: My drums surely din't slide off I have the BFH as proof!!

dunno, if it's not for the drums, who knows

my s10 came with two of those per side
they went in the trash the first time I did the brakes :D

It's called a tinnerman nut. I hate those stupid things.

There should't be a reason to find one in a 14b.

Agree. Don't think it came off your 14B. Might have been in there since day 1. It doesn't look like it's ever been installed to me, as i've never been able to remove one and still have it be recognizable. They really are a PITA.

Things happen while at the assembly plant. It took a "magic bounce" and happen land inside the axle housing while bring assembled.
Leave it in the trash.

Im sure one day you will find something much stranger than that in a vehicle. When I pulled the intake off my old 350 right before I scrapped the rustbucket Burb and swapped bodies, I found a bent pushrod in the valley that someone left in there for good luck or whatever reason. If I had to guess, the PO bent one, swapped it out and just was in a rush and forgot. Or, more likely, judging from his character, he was not in his correct state of mind and just forgot anyways.

I pulled my friends dads ford 390 engine partially apart for a valve train noise and found $300 worth of Snap-On tools laying in the lifter valley.

My parents had a towing yard in the early 80's. Fixed up an rx3 for my younger brother. Couldn't get more than 3 gallons of gas in the tank. Dropped the tank. Had been divided off and was full of pot. It had sat so long it was wet and moldy.

We used to find all kinds of stuff in strange places.
