The previous owner of Can-Back once said that if enough people showed interest in the product, that they would redesign the side rails so that no drilling would be required. The holes for the factory hard top would be used to fasten the rails like the Can-Back for the Four Runner. There is a place on their website that you can add comments and request info, maybe if enough people request the change the new owners will make it. This small thing would not keep me from buying a Can-Back, but I have a nice rust free truck and would like to keep the drilling to a minimum.

This would be a great idea! The old ones required drilling 4 holes into the bed rail. The back ones are in a bad spot due to a tab on the underside. At least that was the case with my '80. I had planed on drilling the top's rail to match the holes for the hard top, but two of my floating nuts were messed up, so I just drilled the 4 holes.

If it takes any sting out of the price I am pleased with mine.
