Hypothetically, can you switch the vin number of somewhat similar model in K5

I have fallen in love with an upgraded 4x4 89 K5 rock crawler available for sale in Florida and I am stuck up with a messed up 88 K5 blazer in Pakistan and not allowed to import older rigs :( .. so was thinking I export to send my existing 88 K5 rig for repairs and then buy this beautiful rig change vin of 4x4 89 by cloning with that of 88 and then bring that 89 K5 rig to Pakistan as K5 88

btw Im probably not going to do this i just get these crazy thoughts that need answers.

i know this is illegal you dont need to tell me.

Hypothetically speaking not hard to do IMO. Remove dashpad on both trucks and cut identical section of underlying dash steel out around the VIN tag without disturbing the factory rivets. Weld old VIN section into new truck, blend out the repair, touch up paint, re-install dash pad. You'd have to remove the windshields on both for best access...

Yes, totally illegal and the frame VIN #'s and other hidden VIN's aren't as easy to change...

How hard would it be to simply swap over the parts that you like and not bother with the VIN issue? If yours is happily registered, just put the good parts on that one.

This may depend on how many parts you've fallen in love with.

You say you can't import older rigs but you have an '88 and want to get an '89?? So even if I'm missing something there, it seems you're then suggesting you send your '88 to the States and get the '89 cloned into the '88 and ship it back? Do you really think that the cost of repairing/modifying your '88 at home is going to be dearer than
a) buying the '89
b) shipping your '88 here
c) having someone risk jail time swapping identities on the two trucks
d) having it shipped back?
I'll consider doing it for you if you have $50 million to spare ( I don't want to go to jail) !!

All excellent points. You could probably build a Blazer from scratch for the cost of shipping trucks back and forth.

I would never send it through an inspection after swapping stuff but someone I know would do it after everything is all done if you know what I mean.

i did a reconstruct title on my truck... it was not hard but lengthy but now I have a new vin sticker that is on the truck above my other plate... funny thing is that plate is from the frame truck as the cab is a 2wd diesel and its vin is up on the dash... LOL... so i have 3 titles for my truck... but all NJ legal
