Is it an automatic? I can't do standard.I'd recommend an Eaton Fuller 13spd.
That's a 5 speed or 13?powerglide.....
I didn't know that was a 2 speed.I'm just messing around, it's a 2 spd...
*cough* bingo *cough*I'll be that guy. Do you have the where-with-all to actually do a trans conversion?
The new Suburbans and Tahoes come with a 6 speed automatic transmission. You might want to go into your local GM dealer and price out a new vehicle to purchase.Engine is a gas 350
I am not a big fan of the 6spd in my wife's Cadillac Escalade. It tries everything to keep the RPM's of that sweet 6.2 down super low and out of it's power band. I can be doing 35mph and it wants to upshift all the way to 6th gear and 1100rpm. It has to down shift 3 times just to get into a gear where it has some power to go from 35-40mph. I also don't like the way they act coming out of the hole. 1st gear, then a quick up shift into 2nd. I prefer a 4L60E that lets it rev pretty hard even with jjust moderate throttle position, going into 2nd.Silverado has an optional 8 speed auto for 2016...
Personally I'm not a more is better kinda guy with Auto's. I felt the 700R-4 was 'busy', but the 6L90 in my '15 GMC is busier. I can't imagine an 8 speed.
That's how my 90 suburban v1500 shifts like your wife's Escalade. That's the best description of how it shifts . it shifts quick out of 1st, to 2nd with little to medium ease on the throttle.I am not a big fan of the 6spd in my wife's Cadillac Escalade. I'm might just stick with My rebuilt (back in Nov 2013) 700r4what Rene said...... every minute you drive that thing with an out of whack TV, you're hurtin it... if the line pressures are really off, you'll nuke it in short order..... super simple.. depress the "D" button, push the sheath all the way to the firewall, release button, mash gas pedal to floor...
nothing wrong with a properly built/upgraded 700.. properly built being the key term...

unless your committing to an ENTIRE modern drivetrain and all the custom work involved in getting stuff like that to work, fix and upgrade the systems you have... that's what I did the first 10, 15 yr's of building vehicles...
