Can I remove this unkown item from bottom of np205?

Want to give case a good cleaning a light blasting, a paint job than a rebuild but don't know if I can remove this grease covered thing or not? Case is a syncro'd version I'm converting to standard type.

Yep, thats the magnet. Remove it, clean the housing thoroughly and reinstall the magnet, if you want.

Thanks dudes, I guess np203's have them too, cuz when I broken mine open I found magnet parts stuck to all sorts of stuff good thing it didn't gets between the gears

just make sure ya give the spring clip a little pinch before ya reinstall it so it holds onto the boss well....
