Can I see some fender trimming?

If your good at body work I've always thought it would be tits to take a pie section out just behind the rear of the front fender. It would keep the factory lip and trim. Done right a normal person would never tell it was even opened up. Assuming you want to keep your rig looking as good as it does in that pic I would recomend trying it. Thats a pretty clean rig to be going at with a sawzall...

I snagged a pic out of the gallery and drew on it real quick but.... cut on the blue lines. Bend it back together, weld it, and throw some filler on it.

i used a protractor. u know with a needle on one side and a pencil on the other. there used to make perfect circles. i put the needle under the fender and moved the pencil to were it looked good and moved it along. but i trimmed all the way around the fenders.
I think that is called a compas. I believe a protractor is the "D" shaped thing.

trust me, I am not totally stoked about trimming as the truck is pretty clean right now, but it has started to trim itself a little during wheeling. I don't want to go radical but don't want to tear up metal either. Would a 1 inch body lift help things at all. I am not a big fan of body lifts as I don't think they look good or are that safe, but in this case.

A 1" body lift should help, or at least make you cut less.

I would follow the wheel-well lines the whole way ! Instead of just cutting a piece off the corners - it looks plain dowdy IMO. Yunits triming looks good ! ;)

man, now I am more confused than ever. Thanks for all the kind compliments about my truck. I do like the way it looks, but I also like to wheel it. Seeing as it just rubbed once or twice on my last trip, maybe a 1 inch body lift is the way to go. I agree with some of you that just taking a chunk out of the fender looks lame, seems like the way to make it look best is to just get aggro with the sawzall which I am not ready to do yet.

This looks really good, anymore pictures or information?

I'll try to dig up some pictures when I get back to my other computer, but back in the days when I tried to keep my Blazer clean looking I fit 35's with 4" of lift and lot's of wheelin' by trimming the lower edges of the fenders and putting the stock chrome trim back on. The typical person couldn't even tell they were trimmed. If you make a nice gradual transisition you can get away from the "hacked the lower chunk off" look.

Fender Trimming :haha: :haha:

Those were the days........

Don't do it! It's totally addicting :doah:

My truck was as cherry as yours a couple years ago :haha:

I will probably take good pics when Shawn and I get done with the other side . I have a growing list of people who want to see the pics :D

This is what it looked like before CK5 , look at that rocker panel , sure was purty , and the pain of dinging it wore off :wink1:

This might be a dumb question. But why not just upgrade to a 6" suspention lift and you won't have cut things.

What for ? A stiffer ride so I can complain like everyone else :wink1:

No the way to go is short lift and big tires . STABILITY WORKS FOR REAL WHEELING !! Mud and show can go high . Smoother ride with less lift to boo t.

I trimmed because I hammered the rockers so bad it was either pay for bodywork or go with sliders .

I chose sliders , and trimmed for 35's this next tax return :D

and a few more for good measure.....caution, im being a pic whore right now :D you can see the titanium spacer i made to replace the hex coupling nut which was temporary anyways. hows that for a trim job.

Enough room left for KidJethro to hump my tire :haha:

You know, I've got a video of Joe humping a tire :eek1:

That boy just ain't right :screwy: :screwy:

Sliders are either a bolt on , kinda like a nerf bar or step , but the truck can slide over rocks with them , strong andfunctional .

They also can be a piece of square tubing welded to the truck where the rocker panels used to be .

On a truck with a rollcage , the sliders can be tied into it .
