Can My 1990 Suburban 350 with a 700R4 Transmission get to 80 mph without the engine throwing a rod?

Yes yes it should. All my trucks have been able to get to 80. Some only under the exact right conditions. But of 5 or 6 blazers several pickups and a cab and chassis truck all have seen 80

When I'm on the highway the max speed I get to is 72 mph however with such a high rev torque I be afraid that I might throw a rod at 75 or 80mph

Axle gearing/tranny/tire combination?
You have a tachometer on this truck?

In general, increasing engine speed does dramatically raise the odds of catastrophic failure. But that doesn't mean that 80MPH is out of reach. Many rigs pull that off without any problems.

Suburbans from 1973 to 1991 does n have tach meters if I recall.

Unless, their were special ordered at the time

My stock 1990 blazer,is actually quite fast for what it is,it will cruise easily all day long at 80-85,and if I push it I am sure it will top at least a 100 mph
Besides the engine rebuild back a couple of years ago. Yes

There is a pattern of seemingly banal questions posted by you with little to no relevant information provided. Please get your shit together for the sake of the rest of us that may actually want to help you out. :ignore:

Tire size?
Gearing?
Do you have a tach? Does it work?
Does your 700R-4 have a working overdrive, and should we assume you're using it on the highway?
Does your engine have oil in it?

It'll do it. It's an overdrive transmission so you won't even be revving all that high. If the engine had a recent rebuild, it should be fine. However, if Johnny Law gets behind you, you're not going to have a lot left to outrun him...

Hell I've done more than 80 in a semi emergency situation with a 2 wd drive crew cab dually 4.10s with 31" tall tires and a turbo 400. The only thing that blew was my gas budget

It does not have a tach, it has a functioning overdrive(which I use 99 percent of time except when I use "regular D" for towing), engine does have oil in it which I change every 3000 miles with either 10w40 or 20w50 regular oil(no synthetics), tire size is 35

Johnny law? You meant the police? Lol

If you meant that, I was thinking of a way of having a 4x4 1970s to 91 suburban doing 200mph and out running the police while having the ability to go off-road. Another way to evade law enforcement
