Can someone read my winaldl datalog?

TBI engines don't need the resistor put in enter into ALDL mode like the TPI ECMs, it shouldn't run any different with the scanner hooked up than not :)

Well damn, that's kinda nice. I've got to get my other cable working so I can see how the engine is running at "real" idle.

I finally got around to putting in my old 1 wire o2 sensor and it didnt help. It idles fine while the truck is warming up and sitting in the driveway but as soon as I start driving the surging comes back and will keep surging after I put it back in park. My next thought is to change out the ignition module, its the only thing I havnt tried yet other than a new ecm. Anybody else have any ideas?

I can't see the ignition module nor the ECM being the problem.

This sounds way too consistent to be anything other than a problem that occurs once the engine gets off the open loop timing/fueling maps.

Have you watched the scanner while the engine is warming up, to see if it starts as soon as the engine goes closed loop? I suspect you'll see that it does.

You are right that it only happens in closed loop but what else is left to check?

Do you have your old PROM? I'd throw that in and see if it still happens. I really doubt that's it, but going to a "known quantity" at least will make sure it's not the chip itself.

What has Brian had to say? I still might be suspect of your O2 sensor, if the programming is right, and your injectors aren't leaking, the ECM should be able to get the thing to swing lean/rich, and yours isn't from what I see.

I gave my old prom to Brian when he burned me a new one:doah:. Brian has giving me a few suggestions but nothing has worked so far and as far as I can tell the injectors arnt leaking (not dripping and have a good spray pattern). I guess it still could be the o2 sensor but I have a hard time believing that all three that I have are bad. Could one of my other sensors be bad, the TPS is showing the right voltage and the CTS seems to be showing the accurate temp but how do I read the IAC and does anything else look off in my datalogs?

I give up, I just ordered a new 02, map and knock sensors. I know I'm doing the wrong thing by throwing parts at it but I have been trying to diagnose the problem for weeks and nothing has helped. My only hope is that I get lucky and one of these will fix the problem.

Your IAC readings look in spec to me, and they change as your idle changes, which leads me to believe it's working as designed.

Your MAP is changing voltage as the engine RPM's change, so I think it's working right as well.

Knock sensor you'd see knock counts in winALDL if it were causing problems, and you aren't seeing that either.

I'm really only changing the map and the knock because they both have busted pieces where the connections are at from when I was in to big a hurry removing the old engine. I'm really hoping that I'm wrong about o2 not being the problem and decided I would give one more new one a chance.

Hey, I just got done reading through your data, and as far a I can tell it all says the same thing, "you're a big dummy". Seriously though, knowing your truck, it is almost certain to be some type of user error.:D

Well I put another new o2 sensor on and no change, went ahead and put a new map sensor on as well no change. I even went as far as putting a buddies stock ecm on and guess what NO F..KING change. I have absolutely no idea what is causing the surging at Idle in closed loop. What ever it is also is causing some hesitation issues plus every once in a while it will be hard to start.

I have looked and I also just took my tbi off of the manifold and replaced the gaskets and check the tbi itself. I still think there might be one I cant find. I have done all the tricks like spraying around all the places that could leak with carb cleaner. All the sensors are new except for the tps but its showing the correct voltage. I have been all over this engine for the past month and still cant figure out the surging problem.

hey,

I got a new job, and with it a new phone..so I lot all my numbers and can't call anybody...but I have a vacumm gauge you are welcome to borrow.
