Can the Engine, Trans, and Tcase be pulled all at once as a single unit. Im thinking about trying to pull it all at once out the front. I have a fork lift and all the equipment to do it just wondering if it physically will come out?

I think the TC crossmemeber will get in the way as it wont fit between the body and crossmember.

i would say yes, but only if you pulled the front clip. i doubt you'd be able to get it all out with the front end on it. what about pulling the combo forward so the tranny bolts are easier to get to, then dropping tranny/tcase with a tranny jack? that in my mind would probably be simplest.

Guess this isnt really a fair question with out more info.

I have put a body of an FSJ on a 77 Jimmy. Kept the Jimmy engine and running gear 4" lift. Now a few years later and the Jimmy is toast and its time for a freshening up. I was basically given a lifted Burb that I will use as a Donor rig. The body will be scraped out so I will have no issues getting that off the frame in one piece. The FSJ front clip comes off very easily so that wont be an issue either. The floor in the fsj is much higher in it than the Jimmy giving all kinds of clearance between the frame and body. It looks like it should go? Just wondering if anyone has done it in a GM 4x4? If so Im sure I can do it with what I have here. Thanks for the direction.

I've pulled a 350/350/205 out of a 80 k5 and put it in my 75 k5 as one piece.:dunno: Both had a 3" body lift and the front clips pulled.

Why scrap erfectly good burb body? At least let some people here pick at it first. I hate seeing good sheet metal go to a scrap yard and be crushed

Oh No! Its not going to waste, doors and glass is all spoken for dash insert and gauges as well as the steering column. Handles have been claimed as well as the seats, hood and front fenders. The body is a totally non fixable rust bucket. Look close at roof above the rear window and door. That is a rust hole all the way through into the interior. Besides Its not smogable. with all the mods that have been done to it.

Look at the cancer above the front door and from the front of the back window all the way to the rear.

That part does no good to anyone anyways. Im talking the perfect looking doors, the fenders, hood etc...

Pull the t-case shifter off (hangs up on firewall), remove the distributor and carb/tbi (you can tilt it up more), and if it has headers pull them to. Don't forget to mark everything.:D

Thanks... Sounds pretty straight forward. Think I will give it a try!

Never been successful pulling the whole thing out at once. But I have never had a forklift, never could get everything past just not enough space

I've installed a 350/465/205 as one unit before. Left the front end on, had the hood off though. I think I had to let the air out of the tires to get the trans past the hood latch....probably could have re-hooked and avoided that.

hell Chris, that is in pretty good shape compared to what still survives around here.

For real?

I bought this 1931 Chevrolet body last week. Local car that has been setting out since 1931. Has surface rust but no cancer at all! Of course all the wood is gone form it but the metal is in really good shape! This Burb body is Trash for this part of the world.
