can you identify this motor. 302 327 350

so i just bought this motor.. but what is it. I see numbers that say 23GM 3970010 and on the other side I see numbers that say c47j67337

That casting number is a 350 and covered a BUNCH of years but is definately pre 1986.

Thanks. I couldnt figure out how to do that!

Yeah the Ram horns are coming off. Doug Thorleys are going back on. It's a Holley double pumper carb. Holley intake. But I think I might put my edlebrock Performer and 650 on. What would your thoughts be? And whichever I don't use I'll be able to sell atleast. same with the rest of the old block

A early engine , dipstick on the left hand side.
Must be an old race motor, the Mickey Thompson valve covers are a dead giveaway:rolleyes:.

mm the dipstick is on the same side as my current, But yeah. It's an early motor.. Its nothing special, I dont think??. But my k5 is my DD. so I needed to get it going. ofcourse with a little offroad here and there

oh.. and also the numbers on the pad are... c43176337

how would I look those numbers up?

Are you sure that is the numbers on the pad in front of the head? I ain't getting nothing on them numders but the numbers from you first post are coming up as either 68 327 or a 69-79 350.

68 was a large journal 327 correct? if so it would be the same block for a 327 or 350

Yes and yes, only difference would be the crank which 327 has a 3.25 stroke and a 350 has a 3.48 stroke.

Let me correct you on that carb. Yes its a Holley, but its not a double pumper. Its a 4160 which is the same carb that the truck avenger is based off of. I'd say freshen it up a bit and install spring loaded needles and you have yourself a reliable carb that has a lot of tuneability. Thats what I used to run on my 305 and I loved it.

I saw an old picture by GM in a book one time, it was a 3970010 part# block listed for a 302-327-or 350 CI engine.

they all share a 4" bore so it isnt impossible to happen to find a 0010 327 maybe.
