Can you tell if a trans works??

I have a th350 out of my project blazer. I want to sell it but I bought the truck not running so I have no idea of the condition of the trans. It was behind a 454 so I'm sure it took some abuse. Is there anyway to tell if it's any good with it sitting on the ground? I just don't want to sell anybody a trans that doesn't work.

Dang....thats kinda what I was thinking. ok so does anybody have any ideas how to get rid of this thing FAIRLY. I'd like to get some cash for it but again I don't want to sell broken parts

Check the fluid color....if its bright red...tell them it appears to be OK, but you haven't actually run it. Or pull the pan to check for abnormal pieces, like steel or plastics, some casting flash is ok, if it hasn't been apart before. Give them a try it out option.
