I am having trouble adjusting my clutch. Let me say that it is new with a new flywheel and motor. I have almost no free play and it still won't disengage. I cant get into gear with the motor running and if I start it in gear it just slips a little with the brake pushed hard and the clutch to the floor. I dont want to get it so that my throw out bearing is always being used, I know that it will ruin it quickly. Has someone run into this?

It is a 79 so I have the mechanical linkage.

The linkage between the bellcrank (thing attached to the bell housing), and the clutch for should be threaded for adjustment. There should be to nuts (:haha:) to lock it into place on the bellcrank. It's possible that yours is so rusted/full of dirt that you can't adjust it.

Or, if you have that straightend out, it's possible that your body bushings are completly shot allowing the body to move around. Or the clutch for could have come off the ball stud. I have had this happen and the pedal was to the floor with out any disengament.

The linkage is clean. I just put the motor in and cleaned the front end before I put it back together. I can adjust the rod going to the clutch fork. It works fine and moves it when pushed. I just don't know how to maintain the free play and still adjust it to fully disengage. I can have one or the other but not both.
