I despise these types of dipsticks

#2
I tried very very hard to get the stock K5 tube and stick to work

They make locking dipsticks for these Novas but "ain't nobody got green for da!"

So Im using what I could get. I measured the factory piece a hundred times from the base to the end of the stick, to make sure the new piece extended down into the pan the same. I am confident in this but I cant see a damn thing, which is pretty normal with these.

Can I paint it black? Thinking to just put some tape on it for reading purposes, then remove. Stupid stick. What can I do to help see the trans fluid level?

Editted: Stick has been wiped before the picture :D

What i do is wipe it clean while engine is running, stick it in for 3 seconds, pull it out and lay it on a clean white paper towel, it will show exactly where the level is

This is the trans stick (was never a manual)

But my old engine oil stick was the same till I went with that Nova pan. Now its flat and shiny.

Light doesn't help. On a flat stick yes, but this hides it well.

Ill have to try the paper towel.

I saw the dipstick and presumed we were talking about the engine oil forgot about the tube sorry

I am a big fan of using the paper towel as the sheet though. I do that on all my oil.

Cant See Cheech Marin GIF

Looks to me like you need to dump a quart in and repeat until you see something. Just watch both sides because once you dump it in it gets all over the dipstick from the tube, not just the fluid level.

If you want to verify the dipstick is at the correct depth, the fluid level should be flush with the top of the pan when full running. You may have to pull the tube out or the pan off to verify this.

I have the Lokar tranny dipsticks in mine and they're very difficult to read.

Believe me a paper towel or any white absorbing sheet, it will show you everything.
In a pinch I have used white copy paper, the cheap kind the bleeds through with ink jet printers.
You basically get an imprint of what your eyes can't discern from little contrast

I edited the first post :D
That stick had been wiped off before the picture. Was just showing the style of stick I don't like.

I have not had a chance to play with the Nova again. Im hoping for after Christmas. It is drivable on the street, which I'd like to do before finishing up everything else. Get that kick in the ass :)

Well based on your edit, how about you stick it back in the transmission and let's see a picture of that
