ive had a capacitor in my 72 Blazer for about a year. we've resolved a few electrical probs. current one has the blue high beam light slowly half illuminate when the headlights are on. we've replaced the headlight switch, but still lights up slightly.
ive also noticed one of the illuminated switch lights we put on a panel, will stay on for a few seconds once switched off, then fade away.
the stereo is wired to the capacitor. i aim to disconnect to troubleshoot this.
anybody have similar story?
cheers

Curious what you were accomplishing with the capacitor?
Everything should be 12v on that

put the capacitor in to handle the stereo, which has an amp and 6x9 speakers rear and 51/2" front. and more so for the store of energy to power the inverter, which has couple AC outlets, USB and cig lighter ports.

if this is my issue i can survive without....

Check your dip/highbeam switch, they get cruddy and could be the high beam indicator issue

good point. the truck was re wired previously, and i saw that high beam switch when gutting the interior, looked all new.
but, sometimes if you press the high beam switch, get the bright blue light, then press again to return to low beam.... the blue light stays dim.
we disconnected the capacitor and it's still getting slight blue glow after few seconds with lights on. with or without ignition on.
added anther ground body to frame too.
i dunno......

Ground connection under the dash
i'll check again. this is the second headlight switch. all new gauges and wires back there. i could attach a ground wire here and there, see if it goes away.

Are any of the lights with the issues led?
its a new panel. the tiny little blue high beam light looked incandescent when installing, but could be LED.
all the exterior lights were replaced with LED. had problems until we installed the restrictors in each one, now good.
there were problems blowing relays for tun signals and hazard lights too. certainly before and perhaps even after.
thank you

Titling the thread with "capacitor" feels like a red herring. Typically those units are tied to 12V all the time and for most of the electrical equipment on board they have no effect. Most electronic boxes on board have their own smaller capacitors built-in and nobody notices any effect. The battery is storing way more energy than your amplifier stiffening cap and you can't get rid of that.

For a toggle switch LED to fade out slowly, it is discharging the capacitance in whatever item you are switching (what is it?). The reason people are mentioning LED is that they illuminate with much lower current than incandescent bulbs, so a small leak path that would have no visible effect on a standard bulb can light the LED, at least a little. So most likely there is something else tied to your high beams or the ground used for the dash lights isn't good. With a bad ground or blown fuse certain items can end up kind of in series creating weird effects.
