Has anyone actually had their non CUCV truck painted with the CARC paint? Or for that matter those with the CUCVs how do you like having it? At work our painter repaints a lot of the military construction equipment after refurb. I was talking to him today and it would cost about $100 to have my blazer painted with the CARC just wondering if it would be worth it. I was origionally just going to do some rustoleum od green spray bomb but I think this would be a much better deal long term. What do ya'll think?

CARC is nasty NASTY stuff. Toxic as all hell, hard to apply, and you're supposed to use full respirator getup when sanding it.

Unless you expect to be using your truck in an NBC environment, you REALLY want to use normal paint.

I wont be the one painting it, the guy who would be painting does wear a full space suit when painting. And it is done in a paint booth. I loved the durability of the stuff on the humvees when I was still serving our Uncle just don't know how it would be on a daily driver vehicle. I am going with a military theme with the blazer anyway, kinda a CUCV wanabee.

If you're never gonna touch it ... eh, maybe. And a C-note is prolly cheaper than a decent rattlecan job.

Plus free touch ups when needed since there is always extra paint from each job. The deal is that I do the prep work, mask and tape, roll it in the booth, he sprays it while I ice down the beer, then we watch the paint dry with our buddy wieser. Don't really intend to mess with it once it is sprayed.

Remember any future repairs, which require sanding, caution needs to be taken. CARC in particulate form is nasty stuff:(

Mine has CARC on it and I'll be spraying over it with a flat paint so I guess I'm not overly concerned.

Yep, I know all the precautions, funny thing is when I was in the Army the motor pool morons just sprayed the stuff. No mask, nothing.

I don't know, half the time I walked in there expecting to see Sgt. Bilko. They were total idiots most of the time. Anyway I am really digging the idea of the CARC paint. Just something tough, and rugged that I don't have to worry about getting dirty, scratched etc. plus it fits the overall theme I am going for.

Actually CARC paint is nothing more than flat polyurethane enamel. But it's really hard on spray guns because it's Pigmentation is courser than regular paints. Just use the same things as you would with shiny paint. We used to get it in rattle cans for touch ups on our helicopters.

I personally wouldn't paint anything without a respirator or sand for that matter.

Alot of people are scared of it because it has " chemical agent" in the name.
