Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt.

Well, for the chopping. I was gonna do this with my extra Chalet and a Suburban ... but the wife kept the Burb when we divorced.

The last one is a chop of the Chalet brochure page for a hypothetical Suburban Chalet ;)

:haha: :haha: :haha: gawd that would rock!

I would sell one of my testys for a Suburban Chalet.

Can you say 5 mpg city and 10 highway?

Id rather just take a crew cab pickup and toss in a camper. No modifications needed, dont need to kill a poor suburban. Plus, bedflex!

Edit- holy hell this is nice

That's cool :waytogo:, I have done stuff like this too, there was a thread awhile back where everyone was drooling over the prospect of a suburban with a removable Blazer top (IGOR actually made one). But I did some OE ads to show to everyone. :D

I also did a fulltop 'Burb just to see what that would look like...

Below is a Dodge ad I did for a friend after he got stuck in his Ram Sport (identical to the truck on the left in this ad). Read the writing in red, that was my work...and it was also what actually happened :haha: :haha: :haha: It wasn't even a "bad" stuck either, he got stuck in a grassy field and probably could have drove out had he been a better 'wheeler.

Anyone know where I could pich up that tire carrier?

No I want it I just hadn't been back on since the night I got it.

this thing got me all fired up, hell I even renewed my membership.

I went and looked at it again today (as I have yet to bring it home)

The ol' boy was tellin' me today how "ya' see what they did is they cut the back out of a pick-up cab and slid these in there and made a camper..."

My reply:
"Oh really how neat"

(I know, I know, kinda evil, but he has enough cool **** its my turn. Not too often I get a steal like this)

I still need to take pictures.. I will get some this weekend.

If I owned one I would buy them just to show people about it. :D

.....I got me a casa grande today...
Ditto on the pics, post 'em when you get 'em. PM also sent to you.
......I would love to have a Chalet or Casa Grande.
.....I hope I will be lucky enough to find one someday.
I know of 3 shell-only Chalets and 8 other complete units out there for sale, plus another 6 where I'm not too sure of their sale/sold status. PM me for the two lists if you want 'em. I tend to be away from the internet on weekends, have patience for a reply in those cases.

blame "dremu" for the Photoshop alteration I did in the pic below, I was messing with the mind of "ColoradoRon" over in this thread last year, see side photo in his 1st post: http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8117 He was kicking around the idea of a 'burb Chalet in an earlier email he sent to me, and I am such a slave to temptation, see my post #19
**Oops, forgot to add, see the jaw-dropping price for the slightly-more-common Blazer Chalet in my post #20 here: http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=221315&page=2 **

Maybe it's an optical illusion, but those wheels sure look wide, more like what would have been available on a 3/4 ton. Did Chevy offer wide steel wheels with hubcaps on 1/2 tons?

you're right. It DOES look that way. I'd love to have 10" wheels like that. I'd almost bet they aren't wider but it'd probably help out on the load

Those wheels in that Chalet ad are are 15x8s. That style of center cap is really shallow so it's making the rims look deeper than they are. I have those exact rims on my K5. They came stock (special order) up until the late '70s on the half-tons and were white. After that they were standard equipment on military Blazers and came painted black. :)

Here's my rim with no cap...

Here it is with the old school ('69-'77) caps. The dog dish centercaps pictured here are about 1" taller than the centercaps pictured in that Chalet ad so with my cap on it, it looks shallower since the cap extends further to the outside of the rim. But it's the same rim. I have never seen a factory stock 1/2 ton rim wider than 8".

I had forgotten how sharp clean white wheels with chrome caps are. I had a 74 (with painted hub caps) and couldn't wait to get them painted black. I should have just bought chrome.:D
