4' firestick. Never used it much though. How well do hand held CB's work? Thinking of the simplicity of a handheld 12v charge and the ability to hook it on the belt and take it along.

Because I don't currently have my K40 mounted I've been using the hand helds I got for Christmas. They have a 10 mile range and do quite well IMO. Mine are Cobra Micro talk's. They have a page/call feature as well as a few boosted channels. On the trail in pretty mountainous terrain I can still recieve and transmit 2-3 miles.

It's not very often I need more than that anyways...

Is that a FRS/GMRS radio or a CB.......I would bet GMRS with a 10 mile range.

GMRS = FCC License in the US. Not that you would ever get caught, but it is still not the same freqs as a CB.

I have used those radios before, but I prefer the CB as it is more common off road.

I would love to get a 2M radio though.
