Ok, so i broke the knob off my center console, and can't find a replacement. Mine is chrome and looks like this:

Currently, i found this one, but dont' think it will work:
getimage.php

Thats all rock auto had. As well as Kragen. Couldn't find anythign at LMC.

My interior is very stock, and in very good shape, and the lack of knob, and sharp thing i have to turn to get in teh console is making my truck feel like a POS.

What say you guys? How do i get the old cylinder out? From there, Where can i source the correct new one?

Thanks guys!

Anyone have any direction on how to remove old cylinder, dissemble, etc?

I need one too! I hope this thread gets some action! Mine looks to be the same as the glovebox. The glovebox is not keyed though.

The last time I needed one I got it from the dealer. Install was a bitch though but I got it done. FWIW my glovebox door DOES have a key slot although neither of my original keys work in it or the console lock.

Scott,

Any idea how you removed the lock cylinder on that style? All the instructions i have found are for the wrong style cylinder. Latch on mine is fine, but the knob broke off the cylinder.

It's been too many years. If you come by my house one night we can check it out. You coming to Blazerfest this weekend? If so I could look at it then.

Ok, so my dealer didn't have it, and idnt' know when he could get it, so he put me in touch with dealers that had it in stock. The part number for the cylinder/knob only is 12507449
Ordered it from a dealer back east.

I will verify its the right part when i receive it.

Negative on blazerfest. I'll let you know when i get the part

swap the whole key unit is not bad.

remove steering wheel.

remove lock plate .

pull 1 bolt and slide out key unit.

req steering wheel puller. lock plate compresser. 2 picks for clip on lock plate. few hand tools.

What?:haha:

Totally wrong subject. But thats for the instructions to replacing my lock cylinder....:D

I bought two from LMC (one for center console and one for glove box). Took it to a locksmith. He had it for about 3 weeks, took it all apart, then told me I'm S.O.L. because its Japanese junk. Now I cant use either my glove box or center console.

um, SUCK. hopefully i can figure it out. That locksmith must be a tard, i remember taking it apart accidentally when i was like 5 on our first burb. And putting it back together no problem :haha:

Ok, so i got the new cylinder. Finally got it out, rekeyed the new one to match the old, installed. Can't figure out how to properly engage/load the return spring. Right now, it won't latch unless i turn the knob manually.

Anyone?

Ok, got it all back together, AND it locks!

Scary part is it probably took me the better part of 3 hours to get it done.

Wish i had good pics/tips to post, but dont' really. If you need help, let me know.
