Changing hubs.....

How hard is it to change hubs? I have a 86 with the auto hubs. I havn't had any problems yet . But I have heard the stories about automatictly engaging when in 2wd and automaticly disengaging when in 4wd. I got a set of warn hubs for xmas. But I don't now how much work is involved.. Thanks

It is not hard. You will need a torx socket to remove auto hubs.You will also need allen wrenchs, snap ring pliers and I use 2 small flat blade screwdrivers to get out the large snapring.

That's it! You don't even have to jack up the truck to change 'em. How's that for an easy upgrade?

I think everything turns into a larger job! On my hubs we ended up having to go back to the parts place because one of the hubs was defective. Turned 30 min. job into 2 day job, cause wasn't able to get back to the store the same day!
