Cheap Cheap Cheap

I know that this is kinda late. But I bought my Pioneer detachable face for @$80.00 with shipping included, and I also got a Sherwood amp for about the same at a small auction on the internet about a week later. Yes, it is a matter of what people can afford, and what there tastes are like. If you know what you are looking for (how much total harmonic distortion, amps, etc.) you can get some good deals on the internet ( I paid about $350 for everything, and it is probably worth well over $700.00) . The speakers I had to hear for my self, Rockford Fosgate in the front and Eclipse 6x9 in the rear, and it is damn good, when you turn it up you can feel the vibrations in your chest. Although this is in my 82 Cutlass. When I get my Blazer going it might/will be the new owner of this stuff. I didn't say it was the greatest, as I have seen overkill stereos that sound like crap, but it suits me just fine for the money that I paid. Just my 2 cents worth. - Steve

I know people that put all their money in performance parts and have only a decent sound system. I also know people who throw all their money at the sound system and the trucks performance is average. Personally I am into competition quality sound systems so I would not buy anything from wal-mart. I guess its a matter of what you like more the roar of an engine or the thump of a sound system ( I like both a lot).

"Have you driven over a ford lately?"

You know, I'd love to spend some serious coin and have a sound system that sounds phenomenal. But, one of my fellow Marines just had $3000 worth of stereo gear stolen from his alarmed, locked, parked-under-a-streetlight car this morning. Kinda makes me think twice... For now, I'll just be happy with my hand-me-down Kenwood head unit and Wal-Mart Pioneer speakers for the Blazer.

Semper Maintenance!

Sears sells some good stuff now, I got a pair of Pioneer 6x9's for 140, good quality 4 ways. I also bought a Sony 404eqx amp, 4 channel with built in crossover and eq, works great on the 6x9 and pioneer 3.5" in the dash. I did buy a good ppi power amp for my 2 12" Rockford Fosgates in a bandpass box which kick ass. So you can get some decent stuff at sears, now Wal-Mart sells some cheap stuff but I have seen people buy nothing but decent walmart pioneer stuff that didn't sound bad, just a matter of how much money you wanna spend.

If it aint a Chevy don't raise it up!
