Cheap Link arms

I guess I could run like some grade nine bolts from the tractor store or something.
Do you think that a larger bolt would work better. I don't want to drill to big a hole in the end and loose all the strength of the schedule 80 pipe.

Don't think those G9's are gonna cut it. You need some of the rare and thus more spendy Grade Eleventeens. That goes against the concept though.

Wouldn't worry about opening up the holes, they'll waller out enough on their own.

You guys are taking all of the fun out of wasting company time today.

I just abuse their check book and help out now and then I don't "work" for ORD. I fill in and help out when I can, it keeps me entertained and puts parts on the buggy if I need them so it all works out in the end.
I am actually in construction.

Schedule 80 black pipe is too hard to work with. I recommend PVC.

If I was to heat it up nice and hot I think it would work real good like.

I will paint them with gold colored paint does that count as bling? :D :D :D

Gold paint will flake off though, can you chrome plate schedule 80 pipe?

Oh yeah, I think I found a good solution to the holes in the pipe wallowing out too. You could just pound the pipe flat, and C-clamp it in place, that way the pipe will just bend to absorb the bumps and it'd probably be self supporting so you wouldn't need to spend big bucks on coilovers. Also, this would act as a fuse in the drivetrain, so if things get too crazy, the clamps let go and it pulls apart, thus saving the driveshaft, u-joints, links, and ends. Then you just put it back, clamp it in place again, and you're good to go.

How about if you could use the link arm for the spring too? I bet it would work pretty good and you wouldn't have to find springs to hold it up. You'd probably have to put one on front and one on back of the axle or just put on one long one and clamp it to the axle in the middle. I'll have to think about this one for a little while.

That's what I'm saying, a 4 link style setup with the pipes clamped in place would be self supporting if the vehicle were light enough. If not, just add more links, I need to patent this before you ORD fellas beat me to it.

You could also go around and cut the tongues off of a bunch of trailers, then make a double sided tongue link, weld some tow balls directly to the frame & axle and have high strength removable links...that can have have the security of locks so no one steals your hard work. :D

P.S. - If needed, I can draw the idea up in Photoshop.

You will also want to make sure the tongue and ball are 2 -5/16" for strength.

You could always use copper tube. Don't want to use rigid copper pipe though. Too hard to work with and this way you can have infinitely adjustable suspension. You could have hi pinion come lay some pipe. I mean sweat some pipes.
