Check my gear pattern

Here is my gear pattern. They are used gears. I think it looks good what do you guys think? My backlash was .003-.004 is that too close?

The coast side looks good, but if that's a 14b your b/l is too close. B/L on a 14b should be .006-.010". I belive its .003-.006 for a 10b though, in which case you're good to go....

I didnt get a pic of the drive side. Ill get one later tonight. Ill have to adjust the backlash again to get it between right , .006-.010

Ive rechecked the backlash and its at .006-.007 . here is the patterns i just got.

I think the pinion may be to close???

I'd run it, as long as the pinion is not hitting the root of the gear, which I can't seem to see from the pictures.

Backlash seems a bit tight for a used gearset, but looks alright. Id run it there.

Anyone know where i can get gear marker compound locally? or cheaper than summit ($3 but shipping makes it around 10)

ive checked with the online Napa, Kragen, and Autozone... no luck yet, but i know sometimes they omit stuff from websites

Honestly, I only know one way to get gear marking compound. In a kit that includes other differential parts. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif As for finding it in stock anywhere, I doubt it, but maybe the dealer.

It is available in the aftermarket by itself obviously.....so finding a parts store that isn't a chain, that deals with a local hot rod warehouse is your best bet.

Yeah buy a install kit, they come with them! Or a diff place like West Coast Differentials.
