Check out Exreme4x4 on SPIKE Sun Aug 14th

I saw the one last weekend with the teaser and figured it was coming but they called this week to give us the heads up that we would be on. So I really did just find out for sure. I guessed it would be a couple more months to get it put together but apparently they have some other people to work on it. Who'd a thought?

well just watched the episode and nothing was said about how it was going to mount to the allison tranny. all i can think of is possible divorce mount? or a custom adapter plate, anyone else got any ideas?

really? i didnt even notice that. i definetly wouldnt think its a bolt on deal, and would be worth mentioning

Stephens product rocked

Hey guys,

Just wanted to drop in and say hey, maybe answer a few of the questions related to this project.

The main reason we choose the Urban Gorilla kit was because although it could nt really be seen ont he show the Burb was super tough, and I mean super tough. Plus we can fit 38's under it with no lift, but we will toss in a couple of inches for clearance.

Why a doubler in a tow rig, the main purpose of this truck is to not only tow, but if something happens to one of our rigs on the trail this thing has to be able to go in and "tow" it out.

Mating the Allison to the 203 was such an in depth adventure we decided to save it for the next episode. I really didn't want to cut time out of the ORD doubler build to show how we mate the case. It will be covered in the next episode.

All the work on the show is done by myself and Jess, if you see it built we did it.

Anyway, thanks for watching.

I watched it.

It was pretty good, really liked it how they showed the np203 insides, and how it shifted. Never seen it before

Ian,
Thanks for stopping by! Maybe now you can see how well full sizes really work in "jeep teritory" :D Just razzin on ya for the show w/ the full size blazer a few weeks ago. What are you thinking for a lift? 2, 3"? shackle flip in rear? springs? it is extreme, links? really like the project so far. keep up the good work man.

P.s. ever think of doing a real fullsize build up? like a rock ready k5 or truck? would be nice to see one done well on tv.

Planning on leaving leafs in the rear, using some rough country units, going to try 2" and 4" and see how it looks.

The front will be converted to coil with a four link and panhard bar and dual shocks.

As for a full size build the Suburban body is sitting out back, I have been looking at it with thoughts of a full tube, four wheel steer, portal axle and maybe even dovetail front and rear. I think that it would look super cool to narrow the rear and use only one of the "barn doors" in the back!!!

Just a thought

Roughcountry's are crap (ride like it to) id get tough country if you want it to "go in" and get it.

Congrats on being on the show, Stephen! Good to see your products making it big time. I can't wait to put one in my rig :)

Thanks for stopping by Ian! Cool show! :waytogo: I really look forward to seeing a full size chevy build up on the show.

FWIW, I think it is cool you stopped in to give us the info straight from the source. Props :thumb:

Like stated above, rough countrys are crap, (they may ba a sponsor though so who knows), but they will not come close to comparing to the 4 link up front. a 2.5" or 4" shackle flip would be the way to go. a set of 56's and a good shackle angle would be pretty nice. Then you could inboard the shocks too. Like the missouri offroad kit. This would offer alot of flex, hold up great for towing, and compliment the front very well. 4" might be too much, ive seen a urban gorilla kit w/ 4" and 44's with plenty a clearance, a 2" might be nice. There was a user (cant remember his user name) ill try and find it, who bobbed a suburban and cut the back of it to make it look like a 4 door blazer w/out a top. the thing looked awsome, one of the coolest looking rigs ive ever seen. He kept the stock wheelbase, bobbed the bed, and even kept the barn doors. Like evryone else said, thanks for stopping by, its great that you actually touch base w/ the fans!

riding like crap is a direct effect of a high spring rate, which you need to tow. since that is the purpose of the entire buildup, i guess we'll have to deal.

A shackle flip and a set of 56's solve that problem. you'd get great flex and have plenty of spring rate for towing. :D

Very cool of You to post up and visit us !
ORD's "Doubler" is the cream of the crop in my opinion - it is so good to see the mainstream T.V. folks using the true hardcore, quality aftermarket products instead of what was pimped out to them for adverstisement purposes.

Thats what i was thinking. If they're going to build a rig, go for the best, no matter who your sponsor is. Yes you have to please them, but you have to find ways to get the real products that work on the show. its the best way to get a "hardcore wheeler" fan base. We know what a doubler i capable of, and we can truly respect it going into this sort of project.

Saw the show... pretty cool.
Glad to see Stephens parts are getting out there.
Ian, thanks for the info and hope to see you guys on here more often

Thanks for stopping in Ian.

How fun is it having the funding of the show and sponsors to work with? Keep burning up the plastic and working on a great show. It needs to be an hour long or less time on the "out of shop stuff" or "tv on a cart" and more of the tech and grease work.

Hope to run into you and JESSIE sometime in Farmington, NM.
