Check Out My Bumpers

Here are a couple of pictures of the front bumper brackets. Everything is just tac'd on in these pictures.
Bumper8.JPG

The tube runs through both brackets and then it got welded to the recieve the brackets are made from 1/4 plate.
Bumper9.JPG

I welded the plates the whole way to ad strengh to the bumper. If they wern't heavy enough.
Bumper10.JPG

I made supports that go from the brackets to the frame so the edges of the bumpers have support. In these pictures I still had alot more welding to do.

I am getting closer to being done. All I have to do is weld on the shackle mounts.

Nice bumpers!

I would like to cordially invite you to prom. You can drive the cool truck, but I'll buy dinner.

...........just, you know,..........throwin it out there............

Looks Great! :bow::bow::bow:

Question on the shackle mounts. You mentioned welding them on. Does that mean just welded to the front of the bumper or will you cut holes and run them all the way to the frame and then weld up the holes. Wouldn't that be stronger?

Keep in mind I have no idea how strong they would be one way or the other and if my way would be overkill. Certainly would be heavier:haha:

About the shackles, I am going to bolt threw the end of the frame rail, threw the 7 Ga. bumper into the back of the shackle with, 2 hardened bolts. The back of the shackles are drilled and taped. I will also weld all the way around the shackle. While just bolting one of the shackles on. I was able to lift the front of the truck with an engine hoist. I had no problems what so ever it was rock solid. So I figure if I weld them the whole way I shouldn't have any problems. I know there is no way that bumper is coming off, just look at the brackets. Hopefully it works. This is my first time making anything myself. I will continue to add pictures of the process as I progress. I have been getting side tracked with other areas of the Blazer. Thanks for the input and comments.

Dude those look awesome. I have been wanting to start work on a front bumper like that for my crew cab, but didn't know how to go about doing it. I would have probably cut out 50 different pieces.

Willyswanter built this bumper, and thats where my idea stemmed from. I would like a recessed area on top for a winch too. Great work man.

Back from the dead! I am curious how he bent the long pieces over after scoring it? Did he score it till almost cut through?

thats incredible. Did you use a cad program for those cut sheets? Really cool! and great lookin. you should sell them.

No, I made a carboard template. Then I layed it out flat and traced it out onto the metal.

I like to tell people these things are all done in CAD because they're impressed until I mention the C is for cardboard.

That's basically what I did on mine. The goal is to get a straight bent and leave both sides flat, so you cut through far enough that if folds with whatever tools you have without messing up any of the flat parts. You just weld the seam afterwards, so strength isn't an issue.
