Hopefully some of you have heard of or seen one of these vehicles before. They're called PUGs, and I just bought a used one.

Mine's from around 1966-68.
Here are the specs:
-16HP Tecumseh engine
-4x4
-2 forward, 1 reverse gear for a top speed of 18 mph
-26" tall mud tires
-articulating and steering centersection
-holds 1500lbs in the cargo box
-and for the real kicker...a narrowed Ford 9" rear axle

BOOYA!

Ah yes, I promised pictures:

you sure thats a 9"? it doesn't look like one at all really. Its obviouslly a rear with a drop out third member, 9" isn't the only axle like that. Where the tubes meet the diff housing on a 9" flares out to the outside edges this doesn't.

edit, as I look around I'm seeing 9"s like I haven't seen before that do look like that. Interesting... Whats it got up front?

It's definitely a 9"...a very early vintage however. I pulled an axleshaft to replace one of the seals and the hub/bearing/seal setup is the same as the 9" diagrams I've looked at.

Up front is a full transaxle (axle and transmission in one assembly). I assume it's something that was manufactured by Pug. Darn, I was hoping for a D60. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif
