I was going to say, if you draw a line from the nose of the hood to the top of the role bar you seem to be lacking protection for yourself.

But yes, it does look good.

Looks good (and familiar right down to the pain on the H1's... ;) ) I'm re-doing mine similar to yours this spring and adding a full cage not just a roll bar. I've seen too many flat A-pillars recently to want to flop without a full cage. :eek1: :doah:

Here's what I would change:

The two upper crossmembers add a lots of rigidity to your cage. The side of your cage would fold very easily in a flop so I added four pieces on the sides (I only drew the two on the near side).

Yeah, I was thinking that too. It could use the extra support in a flop. To some of the rest of you that posted you must all be pirate members or rich engineers. You must all be able to afford full tube cages on your rigs right from the start. I'll just go back to my little truck building...

I'm both of those (other than the rich part, I'm still a student) :haha:

Your tube works looks good and solid, keep it up :thumb:

From an engineering standpoint, it wouldn't take a whole lot more tubing to make it into a full cage.

Not criticizing, just an observation.

Don't take it as a flaming or anything. These guys said it looks good just needs a little tweeking. They only look at it as a life saving device, so maybe take a few tips and go with it. Most cages are built in steps and changes a few times during it's life. We like seeing progress in little truck builds.
I say nice job for putting out for a cage.:waytogo:

Same cage is better than no cage. (unless it is total crap, breaks and impales you in a roll that is).

Looks similar to mine. Nice color choice :D I will eventually have it tied into an inner cage through the top of the cab.

HAHAHA, Actually, I've had that design in my head for a long time now, then I saw yours on Pirate. We actually built mine using the pics from your truck. I went farther down on the main hoop though to protect the cab in a flop a little better. I guess these guys can flame you now, seeing I used your design. LOL

What a piece of sh!t cage you are going to die:doah::D

Both of your cages look like a good start. Just needs minor tweaking like others have said

you guys are brutal !
I think it is safe to say the majority of the members on this site change there rigs constantly
Bigger and better as we go
Everybody knows a cage is important
Keep up the good work

You are funny.

I would have caged the important part first. Less tube for the cab too if your worried about cash. Dont get all bent out of shape. Its just constuctive criticism:wink1:

I think your off to a great start. Do you plan on building out side of the cab, for the sake of room inside?

I understand that some people may be trying to give constructive criticism, but I do think it's funny because if you just showed the truck with no rollbar or anything none of these people probably would have said anything about a rollcage....I also wonder how many of these people follow their own advice and even have cages.

Point is, that the rollbar/tube bed you have will offer substantially more protection in a rollover than nothing. Yes, a good cage around the occupants would offer better protection but you definitely have a good start and it's much better than all of these rigs that people show off on the board and people drool over that have 1-tons, lockers, 42" tires, blah, blah, blah...but absolutely no form of rollover protection. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking these people, I just find it ironic.
