Anyone know what front axle that is?

I saw the build on that a while back somewhere. Cant remember though.

Its way cool!!

But not that kinda $$$ cool.

If it were a 93 vandura g2500

Its an 01. Don't know what LS it has in it, but the conversion looks lagit

If I get a chance I'll snag a pick of the Bend Broadband vans here. They have 4wd duramax vans. Pretty sure they are ifs/ torsion bars. Still dope in my opinion.

Pretty much the only thing keeping me from getting a work van is the lack of 4wd. I go over the pass too much in the winter

Just realized this...

The one I saw, had a lift up 'Westfalia' topper.
My guess was so you could kinda stand, while changing for surfing, and whatnot.

I've seen a couple of them here in Co. First rate builds. There is another company who has them do the conversion, then they outback outfit the interior. But they get $80k for them.

A fully equiped Sportsmobile will be well North of $100k.

A nice 4x4 van (passenger/utility rig, not a full camper conversion) would be the one vehicle that would tempt me to trade the Suburban. I love them.

wow...didn't need to see that :eek1:

those kits are doable, $$$ wise:whistle:

I was looking into an AWD or 4WD van for a while, but in the end they are too pricey for the utility. I wanted a family hauler, but GM made almost no vans with nice leather seating ("luxury package"?) and AWD. So you're looking at a conversion package, which even in the used market is like 50% more money. They are mostly "church bus" style just designed to pack in lots of seatbelts. Even keeping the IFS, you can swap the transfer case to get real 4WD. There is also a way to lift them using Avalanche knuckles or something and the axle shafts are still at a good angle (shafts angle down, where stock they angled up). But even without the extended roof it's not going to fit in a 7' garage door. And how often do you really need to stand up in a passenger vehicle?

Then you look at Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon which came stock with 4WD, Leather seating or even up to 9-passenger, for sale on every other street corner for 1/2-the money as a van. Plus it gets a few more MPG. If you were really going to use the van as a camper then it might be worth the premium $$, but otherwise not too practical of a choice.

EDIT: I wonder if there a diesel that would fit in there.

From a work perspective, a cargo van has more room than a suburban by far. And the sliding door makes accessibility nice.

Gm only makes the awd in a half ton tho. And its full time awd. Not selectable. So there goes some precious mileage.

I agree the conversions are waaaay too expensive. I guess the market for 4wd service vans is to small for the manufacturers to produce.
