Burblover knows more of the details, but from what I recall it is a Suburban on a Freightliner chasis with a pickup bed added on.

Freakin' badass is all I can say! :saweet:

Very creative....mucho points for (what looks like from a distance) a clean execution. But since it's on a Freightliner chassis, I wonder what motor/tranny setup it's got in it. I'd be willing to bet 3116 Cat or similar, and a six speed.

I agree that gets 10 points for originality alone.. Somebody spent a mess of time and money to build that thing.. That's one hell of a tow tig :pimp:

I do see 2 things that I don't like..
(a) The paint being all white up front and bold color scheme in the back.. That may have been done to help blend the pickup bed to the burb :dunno:

(b) That BIG wing on top :haha: .

Good job on the pics mrk5 :waytogo:

i cant decide if i like it or not. my only question would be why? also can you imagine the turning radius on that thing. :doah: :doah: :doah:

That thing is awesome. However, unless you just have money to burn or it was put together with parts he already had I don't know if I would say that is a wise use of resources. I wonder what it would bring if you tried to sell it? Some collector "Jay Leno" type might pay a king's ransom for that thing. Who knows?

Okay, I'll try to give some of the info I remember. One of my neighbor knows the guy. The owner is a fabricator and does lots of custom stuff. He was responsible for doing the original armor fitting for the Fort Carson HMMV's when Congress said to armor plate them all. The guys was also a factory team racer for sandrail, baja, or something like that.

As for specs on the Burb, it was originally a Freightliner truck. The instire drivetrain is from a big truck. CAT/6 speed does sound familiar, but not positive. Anyway, the Burb body was fitted to the frame and then a truck bed was attceched as well. From what I was remember, the guy pulls he loaded 30'+ enclosed trailer through the Colorado Mountain passes at over 80 pmh. Mt neighbor did mention the gearing, ut I don't remember what he said.

Anyway, definately no redeck mobil. This tow rig is sweet and built for one purpose - tow his race vehicle. I've seen it several times & it's just plain cool :waytogo:

I think it's cool as hell...

But the turning radius has to SUCK! Even with the 50* turn angle of an Eaton front beam axle (which, being a Freightshaker, that chassis doesn't have) it's gotta be a b!tch to maneuver that thing in close.

Even with the 50* turn angle of an Eaton front beam axle[

It would be cool if you could have that on the rear axle, as well. :D

i dig it big time. i would have to say the paint would match the trailer that the wing flows air over... just a guess though.

nice work from what i see.

Bad ass Suburban

I'd like to see that guy try to park that thing in a Wal-Mart parking lot on a Saturday afternoon! Somebody's got WAAAAY too much time and/or money on their hands building that. :doah:

Thats pretty sweet.

I'm up at Lake Tahoe currently, and down at the Tahoe Keys a boat dealer has what looks like some sort of a top kick extended cab/regular truck bed combo sitting on some sort of another chasis like this one. It has Cat Diesel logo's on the mud flaps.....

Funny I was booking up I-25 friday between Pueblo and Colorado Springs and I saw a different suburban heading south towing a large big block chevy powered jet boat. I had a major double take as I saw the Suburban was looked to have been extended enough to add a 2nd set of doors behind the stock rear doors. It had a late 80's style multi-colored paint job (matched the boat) so it kind of hid the third door, but it was a full size rear door.

I had my Camera with me, but traveling north at 80 with the monster sub heading the opposite way at a similar speed, I couldn't get to the button fast enough.

Anybody else see that thing?
