check this out: diesel vette

When you put the motor in a vehicle that weighs half as much as what it originally came in you dont really need all that monsterous non-turbo power.

agreed its a cool car, I'd drive it, but my monsterous non-turbo 6.2 HMMWV is rated at 145 hp:eek1: That is just depressing

I would be all over that. With gas prices the way they are (and are going to be in the near future) who the hell can afford to cruise around in a BBC vette just for the sake of cruising.

And I BET its cooler then any DD you guys that mock it have.

Some people get their tongues split just because it can be done - not because there's any good reason to do that. This looks like the same kind of thing.

That car weighs 3700-3800 lbs stock with a small block. The 700r4 gives it some good off the bottom go with its low first gear.

not something i'd probably do, but i can respect a unique and well-done job, even if it is sort of wierd. my corvette obsessed buddy would probably think this mod is an absolute abomination, though.

very true, but there is actually some logic behind this I think  wants to drive a classic car and wants good milage so there is a little more reason behind this than getting someone to split your tounge in half. I would never build it nor buy it most likely but if it was between this and a honda civic..... yeah I'd get caught dead in it

I also should say I'm not a big fan of those style corvette's so I don't really care if somebody hacks one up. If nothing else I could appreciate it if the work was done cleanly

:screwy: This has got to be one of the worst ideas that I have ever seen. Why would Anyone do something like this. :doah:Just Bad Bad Bad.

HAH that is funny.. I was joking with a friend yesterday.. he bought a jeep liberty diesel.. I told him I was going to put a duramax diesel, twin turbo, nos and propane injection in my 1996 camaro... :haha:
Dude, I would that would be faster than you could get it to go with a gas engine and still get doulbe digit gas mileage check out this duramax sports car made in europe http://www.thedieselpageforums.com/tdpforum/showthread.php?t=22633
And that engine isn't making much more than stock duramax numbers.

A fuel capacity of 100 litres, gives a range of approximately 1000 miles

that car is insane!

0-60 in 3.9sec
375hp/520tq
8speed tranny
60mpg at 56mph

the best of both worlds!
