Check this out...something doesnt add up

That truck does not have a 5.3L, it either has a 4.8L or a 6.0L with that standard transmission.

If I saw a truck like that around here, I'd be very, very tempted to buy it just because of the standard transmission...

Either way, something doesn't sound right with that truck, it shouldn't be that rusty on the frame...

It all looks pretty legit to me... do they run salt on the roads up there or what? Looks like a hell of a deal if you ask me... for someone local who can look at the truck anyways...

I dunno....I smell something fishy....

Saying it can't be registered....

WE ARE CLASSIC AUTO SALES LOCATED AT 1105 OAKHILL AVE. IN ATTLEBORO MASSACHUSETTS, 02703. WE HAVE BEEN IN THE SAME LOCATION FOR 26 YEARS AND STRIVE TO PUT OUT A QUALITY USED VEHICLE.

AS WITH ANY USED VEHICLE, THERE MAY BE MINOR SCRATCHES,CHIPS, AND BLEMISHES. WE DO ENCOURAGE ALL POTENTIAL BIDDERS TO INSPECT OUR VEHICLES IN PERSON IF POSSIBLE.

They're just saying that the frame is in such bad condition that it wouldn't pass inspection. You could even call and speak with them in person.

How does just the frame get rusty. I know the truck isn't made entirely of the sme metal but come on. There's a reason it's rusted like that. Honestly I have no idea but for a little over 3,000 i could buy it and fix what was wrong with it I believe.

I have seen "nice" vehicles from NE area that were sent to the crusher due to rust like this guy is talking about. One guy brought his Lincoln in for a brake job and we had to replace all of the metal brake components, including metal lines. The rest of the undercarriage flaked off on our shop floor :eek1:. All that being said, I think more pictures would have been appropriate.

Yeah "one" pic doesn't help us out to know anything. If you biggest flaw is repeated throughout the description you should post more pics IMO.

I should mention that I disassembled a 2000 GMC 1/2 ton reg cab longbox at my place this last year, it had similar mileage to this truck, and was daily driven on the nasty salty crap they put on the roads here for the morons who can't drive. It didn't have any rust like that on it, infact, I was downright impressed with just how new the frame looked.

That thing must have been sitting in a pool of acid or something to rust that bad...

At under $2K reserve, seems like a good drivetrain swap donor. Frame is wasted, looks like trucks from Buffalo, NY! I used to live up there, would never move back because of how bad stuff rusts out!:(

From the ONE pic it looks like the frame wasnt properly prepped, painted and undercoated(friday frame). I would realy like to see the BAD spots as the single pic does not look serious. Although it is almost 9 years old, Does kelly blue book go back 10 years or just 8?

Just a sad situation cuz I think its a damn nice lookin truck.

Looks to me that truck has been in and out of the ocean a lot. Thats what salt water will do to a frame if you dont wash it off after launching your boat or running up and down the beach surf fishing. doesnt matter how good the frame is coated from the factory. If you dont wash your truck off with fresh water after dips in the ocean it will rust away before your eyes.

VIN says that it should be a 4.8 liter--- still a good deal to steal parts from- could make a nice rod or trail rig with the drivetrain

I've seen it many times growing up in Upstate NY. Road salt can do nasty stuff. Even if you wash your car/truck weakly, road salt still coats everything on the underside. I've seen two trucks scrapped beacuse of this, but never one only 8 years old. If you could get it for a good price and pull everything off the frame, sandblast it, repair and paint it, it might be a good deal.

My dad had an '02 Chevy 2500HD that the frame looked extremely rusty on...factory undercoating basically peeled off and the frame rails looked like what you expect bare steel to look like after being exposed to the elements for a while. The paint on the body, wheels, everything else was still nice and shiny. It was in the Midwest so it saw salt on roads quite a bit.

In a few places there was a small amount of flaking, rest of it was just surface rust, nothing that I would consider structural at all but it sure did look bad. I cleaned it up with a wirewheel and sprayed it with "rusted metal" primer and then flat black paint.

Looks to me like a frame prepped for AZ got shipped to MA. A lot of trucks that get shipped to the high salt states get an extra coating of the good stuff to help prevent rust like that. My current dd is an 06 F150 from Montana, it doesn't have the extra coating and already has a couple of rust spots that I need to fix up. Just on the frame, nowhere else.

I've never heard of any OEM doing anything like this (I work with several in my job). For the most part, when the trucks are built the factory has absolutely no idea where they will end up (with a few minor exceptions).

to me it looks like the fram has been tweakd quite a bit to, the bed doesnt line up all that great with the cab and the gap at the top is noticeably smaller than at the bottom. That looks like a lot of surface rust but nothing that would affect it structurally. I think something happended to it and it tweaked the frame, doesnt look right to me...
