that's not worth messing with, IMO. if the salt is that bad on frames, isn't it rough on d-shafts, axles, trannies and engines, too? lived my whole life in texas, so i've never had to worry about anything like that.
 
cast iron doesn't mind rust. it doesn't pit out like mild steel. Besides, aren't most sbc's these days aluminum? The tranny is aluminum. Driveshaft most likely wouldn't work for a swap anyhow. I think it would still be a great donor vehicle.
 
yes, aluminum, but it still corrodes, which is no better than rusting. salt may be less reactive with Al, though. i'll go pour some on my dd's wheels to find out. :wink1:
