Sorry to hear about the Burb, you put a hell of a lot of work into it and it showed. Hope you get another and continue building.

No way dont let them pull that BS on you. Browse ebay, craigslist, and where ever else and find multiple prices on RESTORED suburbans. Make a portfolio with each truck, pictures, work, condition and price.

and show them the build thread you have here. anything you can show to up the value is good in your hands.

Just looked at it again...that is a hell of a hit!!!!

Knocked your fuel filter off the frame!!

If it were me, I'd tell 'em give me kbb value plus the truck. (for parts)

I've not seen a 'burb fold up like that. That's one hell of a hit......:eek1:

Glad you're o.k.

The demise of my 91 burb was being rear ended like that.... I got hit by a kenworth and my seat back broke over like that. Your ganna have a strange soreness in the lower 1/3 of your back from that. I was standing on the brake when I got hit and tore my ACL on impact.

My burb did the weird fold above the rear passenger doors as well.

this was good advice. I have had friends that worked as service writers and estimators. They use the blue book to their advantage. If it was a very new car, they would play a very different game. They would tell you it had too many scratches or that the paint had faded, and they could not give you full blue book value...

In your case they wave the blue book pricing in front of you like a carrot. It's the easiest and cheapest way out for them. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SETTLE FOR IT IF YOU THINK YOUR TRUCK WAS WORTH MORE! The blue book is a price guide. IT IS NOT LAW! The insurance company may tell you they cannot give you more than blue book - THAT IS B.S.!
If you were not at fault in this accident, it is the other party's responsibility to make you whole again. That does not mean give you just enough money to find another vehicle. That means they need to replace YOUR vehicle!
If they were not insured, you would take them to court, show all your pics and receipts, and show what current prices are like to purchase another "restored" truck like yours. NOt blue book pricing!
If they have insurance, they are paying their insurance company to do the same thing on their behalf...
THEY WILL PAY MORE THAN BLUE BOOK IF YOU MAKE A CONVINCING ARGUMENT. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AS FAST AS IF YOU TAKE THEIR CHECK NOW. IF YOU SIGN ANYTHING, OR ACCEPT AND SIGN A CHECK FROM THEM IT IS DONE.
Most of the people you will deal with treat your situation like it is a game. They get off on feeling like they can screw you and have power over you. They also get bonuses in their pay when they make the company money...

IF SOMEONE WRECKS MY P.O.S. BLAZER THEY ARE GOING TO BE REALLY REALLY SICK OF DEALING WITH ME. I HAVE TOO MUCH OF MYSELF INVESTED INTO IT, AND IT IS NOT FOR THEM TO DECIDE WHAT FAIR COMPENSATION IS FOR MY TIME AND SACRIFICE!

Sorry for the rant, and sorry your truck got smashed.
Hope it works out as best it can for you.
And I never saw mention of many crash details, but how fast were they going, and everybody alright? Looks pretty bad.

well i was stopped at a light and the cop estimated he was going between 40 and 45 when he hit me then i hit the the cherokee in front of me and he hit the car in font of him. Also i think the body lift may have added to the damage but im not sure 3 body mount ripped right out and the frame creased right where the right rear shock mount is on the frame.

how you feeling.....sore yet?

Sorry all of you work and efforts came to an ending like that but glad to hear everyone is o.k. And your next build will be much easier with all of the knowledge you gained.

But to get much over Blue Book, don't you have to show evidence of the upgrades/resto when the policy is written? I mean the cost of the policy is based on the value of the vehicle to a large extent.

Shouldn't have to because it is going against the other drivers Ins., if he has coverage.
