cheep

what kind of parts? look around online. summit and jegs are usually the best and price match i believe

Where is the cheapest?? Kinda keeps us in the dark on what you're looking for here. some sites might be cheape on certain parts.

Give us more info and we might be able to provide you with some ;)

"Cheap" doesn't always mean a "good value"

I'd rather spend 5-10% more at my locally owned Napa,Carquest, or Parts Plus. that has quality stuff and awesome customer service . then to order online or go to one of those big chain stores like Vato-Zone , Schumks/O-dips!t,Or Prick-boys.

I like to support the little guy when I can . I have set places I go and I always leave happy with the parts I need .

those big corporate stores........ I cant even walk in those places with out getting a splitting headache and wanting to choke the Pot-head rejects they have working in those places.

I agree with what was posted above,

Napa is a god send and they can actually use a book to look up a part still, their catalog you can pick up is amazing, detailed with pics and about 3 inches thick.

Call em up and say your from xyz local repair shop and use that name every time you pick up parts. Just today a crank sensor for my sisters car was 114.00... dropped to 85.00 for the shop price.

use craigslist for big parts

Shop around and look at the parts.. I do Rock Auto a lot when I need Spicer or Delco, but I've discovered Shucks/Orrielly's has some good deals too.

Example: Today I bought a power steering pressure line from Shucks for $15.99.. came in the exact same box as the one that Napa sells, only Napa wanted nearly $40 :doah:I gave up on my local Napa a long time ago after going through 4 radiators finding one that didn't leak. Who the fock doesn't keep a radiator in stock for a sbc?

Use the local auto parts place as much as you can, especially if their prices are close to the chains. Buy several pricey parts at once (like all the u-joints for your rig at once) and you can probably get their "preferred cash customer" status after that. Complimenting them a bit doesn't hurt, like telling them that they always have the part you need or you always come here first. I regularly get parts for 20-30% less than Autozone or Checker at my local place, Merle's.

i have worked in 2 different stores in 2 different cities; and we sold parts at the same price no matter whether you were walk in or a shop. so this is not always true.

Yup the hours SUCK!! If i'm in a crunch and need a part at say around 7:30 i can atleast go to Autozone even though i hate going to that place. They just have no idea what you're talking about half the time.

Atleast at the local Napa there the one guy that i know knows his **** about Chevy trucks. He knows alot more but since i'm a chevy guy it's saved me alot of headache

I like the Autozone here, they are the only ones around that actually have wrenched and know what the hell im talking about.

Guess that varies from town to town. The AZ i went to i asked a kid (yeah he looked 18) if i could get a steel braided line from the TBI to the frame. Actually it had hardline but i wanted to change it. He tried to give me some kinda rubber hose with no ends on it. I said no i don't have the special tool to crimp lines on so can you just look up a steel braided line like i asked.

I just walked out when he looked at me funny. :doah:I mean if the computer doesn't show one tell me and i'll find one elsewhere. If not i'l figure something out.

Either way i fixed it myself and it's working. It is after all a return line so it's not pressurized. I can't find them steel braided lines anywhere

The O reilleys in town here sucks, I just tell them to give me the book. it took 20 minutes for them to find the little U-bolt type straps for the U joint. I am using napa alot more however it sucks as they are alot more expensive.

Your local tweeker will have parts to sell cheep

Good place to shop right there!

One of our local orileys wouldn't know an r45ts if it came up behind them and bit em. The one one has all the smart minds and guys who have been there forever, minus a worker or two. The local napa has a few old timers who are sharp as a tack, carquest has some brains but waaaaaaay overpriced, napa makes them look cheap, then i never step into autozone unless i just cant find the part i need, witch is a very rare occasion, those guys coudlnt tell you anything. Usualy if im buying anything i hit orileys first, few things i go for the napa quaility.

Funny story, one time i bought a hei pickup from oriileys, napa, and carquest, and inside the boxes they had the exzact same parts, with the same color wires, same length of wire, two of them had another brand name either on the part or inside the box that matched, needles to say i kept the cheapest and took the other three back. Just because your paying more for their name doesnt mean you get anything better.

No , but to me its worth the extra cost to get better service and the RIGHT parts the first time.

And honestly its not much more. I have a buddy that buys starters and Alternators from autozone......."there cheaper and they have a Lifetime warrnaty !" he says........Ok but he changes that **** every couple months or so. I buy mine from the local Napa. with there 12- month or whatever warranty . and I've never had one go bad?? so what good is a "lifetime warranty if its junk?? and you have to buy 2 of everything so you have a spare??

Supersize75 is right as well you get in good with a REAL parts house and they treat you right. At the Napa in Alamogordo NM where I get 90% of my parts. I get True Cost + 2.5% . On everything but OIL ( which I buy from the local Shell distributor) which is that stores employee pricing. Its a small town and they know me by name when I walk in ,They hand me a Cup of Coffee and a Donut and we Bulls!*@ for awhile, I get the Stuff I need for a good fair price and I walk out feeling better than when I went in. Everytime I walk into one of those chain stores I wind up leaving pissed off and with doubts on if what I have just purchased will fit, work,or last.

I guess its like the Tool-Box debate, The guys who dont use there tools everyday cant understand why anyone would pay 5000.00 for a Toolbox
So I guess the guys who aren't buying parts on a regular basis dont mind the sh!tty service and sub-par parts.

Also there is a HUGE difference in a Locally owned Napa store and the Big Corporate Napa stores . The Corporate Stores to me are no better then Autozone or O-reilys/Shucks
