I have been doing some searches for front spring swaps and i'm interested in the ford 57's and chevy 56's. More so on the chevy 56's because i hear the 57's are weaker.

What I am trying to figure out is how much Lift does a stock 56 chevy spring give? I have about a 6.5 inch lift now and want to keep it around that high.

I believe that the 56" spring swap will give you around the same amount of lift as a 52" swap, so about 4-4.5". So you could buy a set of 2" lift 56s to get 6-6.5" of lift

That's what I was thinking. But there has been some others saying different. I figure they can all discuse it here and agree on something. haha.

The only problem I can find with 56's is the lack of 2" springs there is only one company out there (skyjacker) and we all know they are way expensive. about 2x's the cost of ord's tuff contry 52's.

then why not use 52s in the front, the only differnece is that you will have to move the shackle mount, which is easy to do

instead of starting a new thread
quick question about lift heights

I'd like to do 56's in the rear of my 85 K5. Using a reversed shackle flip with them, say ORD's 2.5". About what lift should I expect using stock suburban 5 or 6 leaf packs, with ORD 2.5" flips? Thanks!

A stock 1/2 ton spring will usually have 5 leafs so there would not be any additional lift, only the 2.5" from the flip. If you use more leafs than that you'll gain whatever the additional spring thickness is (ie; 7 leaf stack has 2 additional leafs that are approx 1/2" thick each = 1" extra lift).

So I shouldn't expect any lift out of changing from 52" to 56" rear leafs? My goal is as close to 4-5" as possible.
thanks!

Assuming the same number of leafs in each pack, there is no additional lift from the springs.
