Chevy Dump Bed - PTO from TH400/NP205, Other specs coming in

Updates:

Temp sending unit works now - check

Oil pressure gauge is in fact working, was not expecting to see it registering 60psi.

Since the transmission was swapped out how about some pics from under the truck of the trans and T-case areas and we might be able to identify what year span it came from.

Any rubber floor mat might not fit well since the trans tunnel appears to be fabricated - might need to get more than one and cut and piece it together to get full coverage.

I had the flatbed trailer in the shop all day today prepping for another trip north, will get some pics tomorrow I think.

I ordered a high-hump vinyl mat, will start there either way.

Everything underneath is coated with what looks like cosmoline and fiber. Years of sitting with no love….

Very possible that the 205 is original - starting in ‘85 GM started streamlining things better on the 1-Tons and the round pattern case with extra long 32-splined input mated to either trans with the correct adapter.
And if you ever need to know your 205 is the normal non-synchro version - that’s a good thing.

Couldn’t tell from the pics if your TH400 case has the thicker bolt bosses along the converter cover bellhousing mounting points. A side pic of that area may help - any shot that shows the top of that part of the cover mounting area will work.

I will get a pic of the transmission area.

Since you bring that up I need the torque converter cover. Are they different for thick or thin bosses?

In that last pic it looks like someone drilled another set of cover mounting holes, maybe because of different covers….

KENNY - did you ever get any decent pics of the rear springs from this truck ?
Mainly the front eyelet on the main leaf - side view
Thanks
9 main leafs plus lower overload. No upper overload.

Where should I get a good rubber floor mat (full coverage)?
Auto Custom Carpets, available on Rockauto.

It’s possible - a good few pics should show us what it is.

The thicker bosses were for a set of braces that went to a plate sandwiched between each motor mount and the block - added structure support.
These braces worked in conjunction with a side brace that went from the passenger side of the T-case up to one of the passenger side bellhousing bolts.

All working together made for a really well supported setup and pretty much ended the case breakage issues GM had back in the 70’s - these cases and braces started being phased in at some point in 1978.

Awesome - those are the ones I was hoping they’d be.
The main top leaf doesn’t bend down right before the front eyelet and the eyelet bolt area of the main leaf is directly supported by the immediate lower leaves as where the 10K pack does not support the main top leaves like that.
Plus the leaves are thicker and flatter too.

Here are some pics of both types for reference if anyone needs it.

That looks like a 2wd case to me, it doesn't have the bosses where the thick bolts go on .
Maybe a better picture showing one full side

@jekbrown in this post says the HD case has 6 screws

Can you run the PTO with a manual transmission? If that th400 blows up I would put a manual back in :pimp:

Y’all want pics of my spring pack? :D

I can’t believe how clean the frame, diffs, and everything else is on this beast.

And thank you Nevada for zero rust!

That does look like a regular case - it will still have six ( three per side ) small sheet metal screw holes for the tin cover though ( the 4WD cover is a thick casting and somewhat completes a 360* coverage of the bell to block but the tin cover just helps keep dirt-n-dust away).
But note - at some point in the 80’s GM just started using the one casting and just did not drill the holes if they weren’t needed so get us some pics of the top side to know for certain.
