Much help need Does this mean you are asking a question? gotta 95 ford power stroke installing motor in 83 Chevy 4X4. I think you're saying you are swapping a powerstroke into a chevy 4X4? Ford is two wheel drive going with a divorced transfor case. I think you need to add what ford transmission you have behind the diesel. Ever seen will it work? No, but anything can work with enough time, money and re-engineering

I'm really not trying to bust your chops but your post is pretty fubared the way you did it.

If your doing this into a short wheelbase then its going to be a lot of work for the transfer case. Are you using a right or left hand drop T-case? Ford or chevy front axle?
In other words you asked some very open ended questions that we have no way to answer without more info.

And stuffing a ford into a chevy, you gotta like pain:doah:

I have noticed between here , and Pirate the will this chevy motor go in a ford, or will this chevy drivetrain go in a dodge. It is funny because everyone get's so mad and offended by another makes motor in that brand.

Huh? He wasn't mad about engine swaps, he was irritated that the original poster couldn't relax a little and give the proper time to type out a quality paragraph that we could all read and understand clearly.

Putting a PSD in anything but a Ford is just flat cool.... Oh, and you've got that backwards... it's swapping in a Dodge powertrain into a Chevy....you're forgetting who has the factory Cummins.:wink1:

Yeah On pirate in the last 2 week's people keep saying can I swap a 383 GM into a Ford Bronco. Then the next one can I swap a Chevy Drivetrain into a Dodge. They post in the section of the vehicle it get's dropped in. It become's a warlike topic. I was just sayin here we go again ......

Does anybody know if the powerstroke has a ford only bellhousing pattern or does it have an sae type round pattern?

Agreed... where's the popcorn?

Oh wait, this isn't pirate! :D

Not sure on the bell housings, but if you're going divorced case anyway, I'd go with a Ford 5sp manual and hydro clutch.
Other than getting the hydro clutch part the rest should go smoother.

If you want a cool diesel in your Chevy, go with a twin turbo DMAX. **** the power stroke.

The motor is going in a four door 4X4 K30 Dana 60 Chevy; it will be a right hand drive divorce 205 T-case. Donor for the motor is a 95-ford four-door dually two-wheel drive. I’m running a divorce transfer case because of the two wheel drive transmission, and I can clock the transfer case were I want it for driveline angle.

Hmmm sounds like he knows a little more than he first let on.

The only thing i have herd about this is the powerstrock has funky proportions that get in the way of the frame. Good luck and it damn sure better get some power upgrades. Thats the only way it would be cool I.E.1000+ ft lbs of TQ

Seems like an awful lot of work for a Furd engine. But hey, if you've got the fab skills and scored a cheap engine/tranny/t-case, make it work, it'll be sweet! If that combo was pricey, or you have to farm out the fab work, a Cummins seems like a better route (D-max would be sweet but dang, that comes with a price tag $$$$$$$$$$!)! But like I say, if you can do it yourself and scored on the Furd drivetrain, then hey man, more power to ya! IMHO, an unusual swap on a budget is a cool way to go!

Yes you can. the 444 international is in far more medium duty trucks than Ford pickups.

Will the transmission tunnel be high enough in the chevy to clear the shfter tower? It might not hurt to measure the frame rail width on the ford to see how much frame room you will need. I think after that it just becomes an engineering challenge get the parts to fit. Get this to run and it could be very cool indeed.

It's no more blasphemous than say a Detroit Diesel or an Isuzu motor in a GM....being that the Powerstroke is made by International.

I say go for it. Although I too am still unsure of what you are asking.
