I was gonna ask if that was in Salem, the siding on that house in the first pic screams Oregon.
Southeast Portland.
I work in North Portland and live in Beaverton, so I get to see quite a lot of the city commuting everyday. That's where I make most of my sightings.

Would have been a TH400 in '87, they phased the TH350 out after the TH700R4 replaced it.

It was a th350c. I changed the fluids, filters, and the modulator on it for him. He gave it to me when he bought his first Toyota...
The locking converter would act up at times. I'd be at a stop light and the truck would lurch like I was rear ended
I finally put down to the converter either locking or unlocking when it wasn't suppose to. Ran fine otherwise, except for the aforementioned lack of power.
It was a 1/2 ton...sat low like it had been lowered.

I have seen people swap out the 700r4 for th350.
I wouldn't have used a th350c myself, I had problems with it too specifically the locking tc that didn't work properly.
I changed the pump to a regular non locking style and I was good
Technically, the TH375B. TH400 with 27 spline outputshaft.
