Chevy's in the wild

Saw some stuff this weekend running errands.

I’ve never seen an SSR lowered and on vette wheels. Somewhat cool body kit. Usually these are driven by the same new balance and Jean shorts type older dude. This one is ratty and I like it. IMG_5799.jpeg

I’ve seen this ZR2 S10 around my neighborhood but never caught it on camera. It’s got a Wildernest topper that the top folds over to make a tent. Really cool setup. IMG_5798.jpeg

@nvrenuf what does the 2 mean?

I think that digit indicates the county in the state for Alabama

Yeah, it designates the county. Way back when the numbers were assigned it was based on population, I think we’re technically the 3rd largest county now but I don’t think there’s any plans to update it.

Fun fact: when I had my old crew cab I had a vanity plate that read “91V3500” which coincidentally matched the tag numbering system (county number + alpha + numeric sequence). I was approached a couple of times with people asking “which county was number 91?” :rotfl: (Ala has 67 counties)

That vanity “91V3500” plate you had was cool - and the truck wasn’t too shabby either !

Did you save the most recent pictures of it?

Yeah, they're in a CK5 photo album. Here it is as of last year, it's a cobbled up short bed and the TBI 350 / 4l80e are long gone (the gears and lockers are probably gone too).

It’s hard to believe that this truck was blown apart to this level considering how nice and good of shape it was in.
It was damn solid when ya got it but you had a really nice fresh paint, replaced all the window seals/felts and door weather seals, 6” lift and 35” BFG’s on wide WELD RACING D7’s, 5.13’s with rear D/L and front T/L with Spicers ( or did you take those off before it left ? ) all on top of the absolute reliable TBI-350, 4L80E/205 combo with A/C.

Anyone has the right to build up their own ride the way they choose to but I would have hoped that a lesser conditioned truck could have been a better choice to change up everything on - that truck was just so damn nice to dismantle like that…

P.S. John - this little trip down memory lane should inspire you to find another crew cab K-30 and paint it blue so you would have a sort of matching set when towing the Blazer ! Just say’n…it would be cool - do it, DO IT !!!

@tarussell I was going to put the new Spicer hubs on it but, luckily, I procrastinated and didn't. I can see the rear sway bar in that pic so I guess there's a chance the axles haven't been raped.

I'd love to get another one but prices are just too stupid to even consider it. The only way I could pull it off would be to buy a reasonably priced 2wd and move all the Blazer parts over but then I wouldn't want to wheel it (as if I wheeled anything now :surepal: ).

Todays batch of GM sittings.
The 65 2DR Impala is at a buddy of mines scrapyard and thankfully got pulled in time to be put aside for someone to get and possibly save.

The 72 LeMans was for sale at Cruis’n the Coast in Mississippi two weeks ago for $9,500 and everything still works and is functional - it’s got exhaust leaks and ain’t hitt’n on all eight but it runs good enough to give off a good Joe Dirt vibe ( this is it at lunch today ). His wife wasn’t too upset but made him swear to finish up the other four auto projects in front of this one before any other money is invested in it - basically what she said about the last project he bought too…. I gotta tell ya we looked pretty pathetic having four red-necks pulling up to the pizza joint in this thing today with Sweet Home Alabama play’n on the tune maker - ole Joe Dirt would be proud !
The rest is just pics of Chevys out and about.

If the Le Mans is still for sale I can pass the info on to a friend who is having seller’s remorse about the one he let go. Not sure if he is currently in the market but mentioned again a few months back.

I’m fairly certain that he’s happy with it ( his wife not so much….).

I might have worded that post poorly; my buddy is the one who purchased the Le Mans at CtC a few weeks ago.

He says it will get an LS and OD trans in it once he gets around to it but I am begging him to leave it alone and just freshen it up as is - the car is just in too good of original shape to violate like that.
It’s even got factory air conditioning on a convertible!

Ah, I misunderstood. I thought he was the seller not the buyer. Nice ride :thumb:
