I am on somewhat of a budget and in the need of some new 33x12.5r15 tires. I decided to go with all terrains because most of my driving will be on the street or at sand dunes, mainly just to pull my trailer out to the dunes or cruising out to comp at night. I know a guy in California who owns a tire shop so I can get decent deals through him and I happen to be driving out there this weekend. Before anyone throws it out there, he can't get BFG all terrains right now, he said they are backordered.

He can get me Kumho KL78 tires at $180 a piece out the door. He can get me Maxxis AT-771's for $190 a piece out the door. He has a couple others that he can get me for between 170-180, Falken, Hankook and Yokohama. I love the Yokohama Geolander on my 4runner, but I want something more agressive on the Blazer. I am leaning towards the Kumhos because I like the tread pattern better and they have pretty good reviews over at tirerack.

Locally I can Procomp all terrains for $860 out the door without the hazard insurance, $930 with it. There are a couple places I can get BFG all terrains in town, they are running about $205 a piece so with tax and mounting/balancing I am looking at about $950.

I would really like to keep it under $800 because I just picked this truck up a few weeks ago and I've already put about $700 into it and still have a few hundred more to put in before it is up to daily driver standards.
Which tires would you guys go with?

I just put some Michelin LTX A/T's on my 05 Dodge. They have realy good reviews and so far they ride pretty good. Got a buddy that works at a tire shop that saved me some $$$. Mine are only 31's. It was $1050 out the door. Road hazard was another $30 ea

Fwiw, I have 33" Hankook ATM RF10's on my Dodge and while they look good I have yet to get the balanced. Prior to purchasing them I read on the net they were hard to balance but I dismissed it as folks going to half-ass skilled tire stores. I was wrong, I've had mine rebalanced 3 times in less than 10k and they still shake around 50 mph. Next time I'll go with something else.

I saw the same thing when I looked up reviews, because those are one of the tires that he can get me. I am pretty sure I am going to call him today and have him get me a set of the Kumho KL78's. They have the most agressive looking tread, and I want something real agressive since I am compromising with the all terrains instead of mud terrains. $720 for the set will put me at $1020 for a full set of wheels and tires which isn't too bad. I just picked up my new wheels last week.

Can he get BFG KM2's? We've got some on my wife's Jeep and are very pleased with them. I've even thought about going with them on my Dodge next time even though I don't need anything that aggressive.

I wish Michelin made stuff bigger than 31, I'd be all over it!

He probably could, but as much as I want a mud terrain, most of my driving is going to be on the street as a daily driver, so I want something that will get more miles out of the tire; and a lot of my offroad time will be in the sand, where an AT would outperform a MT.

I run kumho at on my dd. got 60000miles on my first set

Thats what I like to hear.:waytogo:

I'm talking about the KM2 that looks like a Crawler, not the KM mud tire.

They are a nice looking tire, I think I checked them out at 4Wheel Parts. How long have you had them? What kind of mileage do you expect to get out of them?

We've had them about 18 months but my wife only puts about 6~7k a year on it so they still look new. At this rate I should get 10 yrs out of them. :rotfl: Sorry. :thumb: based on my previous experience with the KM's I expect at least 40k miles but I just havent had them long enough to tell yet.

Well I think I am going to go with the Goodyear Duratrac. I can get them for $200 a piece OTD, or possibly a little less. Its pretty agressive for an AT, I really like the looks of it, and its got pretty good reviews.

I have 35/12.5/17 BF goodrich KM2's on my duramax and they ride nice, not loud, and are very comfortable.

They have about 6k on them right now and I have had them 2 years ( were on my blazer before) and they still look brand new no dry rot from sitting and they tread still looks like it's brand new.

If you cant get BF AT tires then I would go with the KM2's I think you will like them

I really like my BFG "most" terrains that are on my dd, they ride really well if you're thinking about holding out for some. A bunch of the guys I work with run the Cooper Discovery S/T on their work trucks and really like them, plus I think they are a little less expensive than some of the others if you are on a budget. They also seem like a more aggressive all terrain tire.

I've been really happy with my BFG AT's. I've had many sets of different tires on different trucks over the years and these are by far the best daily driver tires I've ever had. My current set has 50k miles on them and still look decent. I know several other guys with them and never any complaints.

Two guys at work have the Hankook DynaPro ATM's and both are really happy. One has had them several years on a 1st gen Toyota Tundra and this guy is really picky about balance and never had any issues. Another bought a set and put them on a F-250 PowerStroke and towed a trailer for thousands of miles with no issues, and then sold the F-250 but kept the tires and put them on an older 1/2 Chevy with no issues.

my brother has 35" duratrac tires on his 07 dodge and loves them!

I'll be interested to hear how they work for ya. For street and sand you absolutely can't beat bfg at's I dont care what anyone says, its the best off the shelf common tire you can buy for the sand.
Let us know how you like the duratracs, goodyear makes good tires so I'm sure you'll be happy.

What about the Pro-Comp A/T's? I dont know if there are any issues with Pro-Comp Tires, But I ran a set for a while when BFG A/T'S were on a national backorder and they were great, and cheap!

I looked at them and was quoted $930 for a set. Wish I had bought them there a few weeks ago when it was buy 3 get 1 free, but I missed it by three stupid days. I did get some Pro Comp wheels though. Main reason I am getting them through the guy I know who own the tire shop is he gives me a decent price on the tires, no sales tax, and free mounting and balancing.
