You know as well as I do if the carb wasn't working right in the first place, you can't use it as an example of MPG or performance.

[/ QUOTE ]Mine was working fine in the first place, it just didn't run well enough for me. I think we have to agree to disagree on this subject. I have seen numerous CCC trucks including mine and jakes and I don't see any difference in MPG and smooth running vs. an older non computer system. That CCC system was designed to "try" and control the emmissions better IIRC.

Are the fi systems smog legal for ca???? /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

That holley projection system is but it looks cheap, doesn't flow much fuel, and Ihave heard bad things about it. The '85-86 trucks are the absolute WORSE to try and modify here in california as far as the engine goes. There are slim to no aftermarket parts out there for the fuel systems. There is NO replacement carb for the Rochestor CCC. What pisses me off the most is that you can get the Edelbrok multi port injection upgrade kit for the TBI trucks (what Bullet has) and is completely smog legal but the complete system from edel that converts the carb system to the SAME multi port system is NOT legal on the carbed trucks. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif This is just one of the reasons why I said "screw it! I am just going to build a good running motor legal or not" /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

funny thing is , is this thread left me scratching my head on a decision /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif the AFRs im leaning towards more as of this point, but i wonder what other(comparable) heads are out there that are known to make kick ass tourqe AND that are smog legal,Im more comfused now than when we started /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Unfortunately that happens a lot when you start comparing parts. /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif What will work and wont can leave you doing this... /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif.. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Thennnnn when you finally make a decision and do it, you kick yourself later because you should have went with something else. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif and you're back at... /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

thanks for the encouragment . /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gifIs that what you did???? Just wanted more more more hu? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifIf i buy the AFRs they better be fawkin the best head out there because they cost 1400 bucks. It would just be a shame to spwnd that kind of dough on heads and find out a week later the same thing could be had for 500 bucks /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

AFR's are unmatched in flow but I doubt your motor can take full advantage of them.

These are great heads are 50-state emissions legal and your smog/AC etc. will bolt right on.

Don’t go to crazy on large intake runners or valves unless you are planning on running your engine at high rpm’s. You are sure to be disappointed in the lower rpm ranges if you do. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

You trying to build a race engine that is smog legal or just a mid range engine?

If you need more power try these http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=2442&prmenbr=361

This link has dyno results with the above heads http://www.sallee-chevrolet.com/World_Castings/SportsmanII_Heads.html
