What do you think of this? I have a 2wd 2/4ton surburban with a 454 at my disposal. Should I do this? Do you like it?

It would have 39.5 tsl's though.

Hopefully converting to 4wd isn't too big ofa PITA. I have a 4x4 half ton that I can use the parts off of. Np205 and it's brackets. B52 in the front with the 56's in the rear with a flip.

It's even the same color.

I think it looks like two truck cabs put back to back. like a shortbed K30.

Kind of. I think it would look good though.

I want to do this kinda thing to my burb but I have too many projects as it is. I say go for it.

go for it! shouldnt be to hard to convert to 4x4. im pretty sure everything is a direct bolt on.

if you are gonna do it do it right i.e. do not make the back of the cab square...looks gay.take some 2x4" sqaure tube and make it look like an avalanche improves it 100%

AGREED!!!!

Is you parts truck a pickup?? if so you could use the back wall of the cab, and graph that into your cab.

It would look more factory then a straight sheet of steel, and it would add to the strength of the roof.

or you could use the "hoop" left after chopping the roof up (I'm talking about the upper section that goes around the top of the doors/gate.)

This would be the parts truck. For the rear I'll use a truck cab. It seems easy enough to take the cordless sawzall to the junk yard and cut the back of a truck off. Mine is a bit rusted on the bottom. But I don't think I have to use that part.

Also welding on the back will hopefully beone of the last things I do.

I'm also considering narrowing the ends down the road. I don't want to get in over my head so that will be another project.

The 454 also needs to be rebuilt. I'm pretty sure the timing chaintook a **** and could probably jsut replace that. It does have 240k miles though. I think a carb would be better than the the TBI setup that is on it right now.

See the suburban on the right behind the S10. Rust free and a pretty straight body.

screw the sub use that
Rusted out cab cracked/warped frame.

Now what do you think :haha:

I really like that truck though. Just the burb will be free and I won't have to buy another shortbed truck. I can always do anotherdown the road.

X3, this is what I want, not the square end cab. I think a avalanche look with a soft top would be cool looking. nice days drop the rag top for that open air feel.

This is similar to what it will look like

K10 Shortbox frame, '74 3+3 crew cab, 4' box, '81 Front Clip, 124" WB, EFI 383 Stroker/TH400/NP205, 52" Front/56" Rear, DIY4x Flip/WFO X-over/Rock Logic Hydro Assist, Welded DRW D60F/Welded DRW D70HD w/ Disc Brakes/4.56, 38.5" Swamper SX/12 bolt HMMWV Beadlocks

A buddy of mine did this to his Burb a few years ago. Its pretty sweet. Narrowed front, hacked roof, narrowed & bobbed rear.
